Thread regarding Viacom Inc. layoffs

Why are we losing so many of our best?

Is it just me, or has anybody else noticed we are losing some of our best employees in droves? What's going on? I know Viacom is not what it once was, but I honestly don't think situation is that bad to cause this kind of exodus among the most experienced stuff.

Am I missing something?

Apparently, you’re missing a lot which makes you part of the problem. Please go as well.

It’s definitely gloomy, but I’ve also heard from more than a few folks who went elsewhere for more money and then didn’t last long when their jobs and divisions were reimagined. Not saying you shouldn’t leave, but be careful where you go. The new media cos from Silicon Valley have short attention spans and are worse in some ways than old media. Viacom/cbs will mean lots of layoffs, even if you feel you’re the 1 person in the company who specializes in your field. So start looking but don’t force it just to leave. Good luck everyone!

"result is a climate of not caring, not working hard and a sense or doom daily. you literally dont know what day will be your last."

The morale was sooo low when I left at the end of the year. No-one really cared about doing anything.

You guys, voting down the person who loves Viacom is mean! I was that person once myself, I loved working there SO, SO much probably for my first 5-6 years. It was only the last couple of years where it started to seem sad and rudderless.

Because anyone who can get out is getting out

anyone with years in a

is waiting it out for the severance

result is a climate of not caring, not working hard and a sense or doom daily. you literally dont know what day will be your last.

There is always one better than you. Its a full circle.

Think of it like this , its business also a matter of perspective.

You might think someone is good and the next person thinks that person s---s.

By the time i left it was so depressing there and I hear from my friends who are still there that it's only getting worse (which honestly I can't imagine) and they want to leave.

I'm not quite egotistic enough to put myself as 'one of the best', but I left because it was obvious MTS was going to be downsized. Morale was low, as well.

Exodus among the most experienced staff? I believe most of them were laid off over the past year or so. And those that weren't must be seeing the writing on the wall.
