Hi, I'm new to this site, so please excuse my ignorance if I misunderstand or violate any rules or etiquette... In our area, there have been rumors for a couple of months about the store closing at midnight. Now its on the wire that only stores with under $60,000 in profits will be closing nights... for now. We have over $100,000, according to our manager. Has anybody heard anything about getting rid of only the night shift? I'm the newest hire on my 10p-7a shift, so I figure I have more to be worried about than the rest of them. Rumor is that the night shifts would just be incorporated into the day shifts as much as possible, but some layoffs would be imminent.

What happens to O/N Asm's when stores start closing at night?
Word around here is that we'll start closing nights in November. We're over $100M.
We're under $60M as well and were slated first quarter but for some reason have been pushed back to third quarter but it's happening. I think it will be good for us as we probably get shoplifted for more than what we make in sales at night.
My store and another in the region are under $60 million. We both will be closing from 1AM -6AM starting 4-27-19. You can make book on it
I don't think it's profit...it should read stores less than $60M in sales are closing at night.
I don't know for sure the qualifiers, but can confirm it is happening at supercenters. Had to help a fellow ASM update his resume as he was one of two cut from that store. Two others in my immediate area are also affected
Several of the neighborhood markets have already been closing at midnight. Neighborhood markets have also had many jobs eliminated. I'm not sure if any of it will happen in supercenters.
Thanks for the feedback! Its on the wire now that the stores under $60,000 will be closing at night in our area. I know of at least one store in our region that's been affected already. There's just a lot of unanswered questions about the future of our own store. Thanks for checking for me!
I've been on this site about a year and this was a rumor that was floating some time back. There are two stores in my town, I know a lot of peeps, hourlies and salarieds alike, in both----and of everyone I've asked, who's feedback I trust, NOBODY has heard of this. I'm not calling complete b.s. on it.....but you'll soon find there's a lot of stuff on here that is, shall we say, questionable .
