I wonder if the other two planes had issues with the LEAP all along, and blame had just been cast on the MCAS as it was the easy target...
It's notable that all three incidents have occurred during the same phase of flight. An engine issue could have led to reduction in thrust, which then triggered MCAS, making it that much harder for the crew to control the aircraft.
