Let's get the facts straight.
1) Devon is not a good long-term company to spend your career. What once was, is no longer. Those who still tout Devon as being an incredible company are blind. Don't listen to them and focus on doing what is best for your career.
2) The job market has reached it's peak. Yes, it has been very strong but that is quickly coming to an end. It will not stay strong forever so be ready for impact. If you are looking to leave Devon do it now while you still can. Otherwise, you will likely be stuck until we make it out of the global economic slowdown / soon-to-be recession.

3) If you are not able to get out of Devon before things get much worse (economically and organizationally), then consider utilizing the education reimbursement. Get new education, learn new skills, make yourself much more marketable.
4) Get on LinkedIn. More than 90% of recruiting is now done on LinkedIn. Consider paying a professional to update your resume and LinkedIn profile if you are not skilled in this area. Today, about 95 percent of recruiters utilize LinkedIn as a major sourcing tool to find candidates to present to their client companies seeking top-tier talent. Connect with recruiters. Connect with people at companies you want to work for and reach out to them with good questions / content.

5) Stay positive and keep working hard in your current role. But don't work yourself to death and don't sacrifice your work/life balance for this company. You likely won't get rewarded for your efforts here. Build as many connections as you can. Network like crazy. That will better set you up for success when you finally make a career move.
