Whenever a big company lays people off, they say pretty much the same thing. This quote from a Canon spokesperson is the same, old tire rhetorical BS: “is constantly reviewing business needs and organizational structures to help ensure that we are best positioned for future growth and development. At this time, we are confident that with our new organizational structure, we are well positioned for future growth and success.” When i read that I can quickly tell that the company didn't give much thought beyond padding their profit margin just a little more regardless of how an employee might feel. They don't even care enough to write some new BS. ". . . positioned for future growth and success." How stupid.
