April 1 layoffs at Juniper

Is it true layoffs have been confirmed for April 1 or was somebody just joking due to the date?

(And in all honestly, I really think this is not something people should be joking about, considering that we are constantly in fear of layoffs and are stressed out as it is.)

Why would a layoff coincide with the acquisition of mist? Terrible timing if they do both on 1 April, and what a dumb date to do anything at all.

Naming everything "contrail" to show 'cloud affinity' was another slick move that just didn't fool a lot of people because it was someone at the top "orchestrating" a cover-up with "Con"-trail, just to get this bad deal behind them. After all who wants to be remembered for being "conned"?

These are the reasons why this company has rolling layoffs. The seasonal clean-ups that stems from bad decisions at the top. No one at the top will ever pays a price for their bad decisions. What will it take to stop this cycle of lies, betrayals and cheating the shareholders of their profits?

It is scary to speak up about this, because you will get voted off the island in "survival - juniper edition", if they ever find out.

@Ya2BstB-1gzi, if what you say is true, and the following statement you made holds up, we have a huge problem on our hands...

"It seems that only Product Management and Contrail "future of the company" type projects don't get impacted at the moment."

The root of all many problems, including the CEO, is Product management. Seriously, RR was a Product Manager. They have made bad decisions that have cost this company Billions... Not millions, Billions. So why are these goons all still around?

The next group is Contrail. We all know Contrail, and sticking that entire group of arrogant know-it-alls under the CTO was the beginning of the end, for real innovation at juniper. The "spin-in" that cost the shareholders $172M for some vaporware promise of a product, and some PowerPoint slides of changing the world with openstack, was not worth that much money. The real kicker was keeping them all locked up and letting them walk around like their shít didn't stink. It demoralized the rest of the entire company. They all worked as though they were already finding a cure for cancer, when all they were doing was being the cancer of the company, themselves. Working outside that group and needing to interact with them was a nightmare. They would never reply an email or return a phone call. They still don't.

So, if any two groups need to be cleaned up it should be the PMs and the contrail team. Neither have done their job, they both need to be cleaned out - top to bottom.

@Ya2BstB-tcx That's incorrect. LOTS of Directors/VPs and above have been impacted.

It's a top-to-bottom house cleaning that's going on.

It seems that only Product Management and Contrail "future of the company" type projects don't get impacted at the moment.

I heard April in CS (not limited to) but could be May but it’s either April or May. Either way, it’s coming. Do have your resume updated and everyone not a director or above is at risk.It seems director and above don’t get laid off. They are needed to prepare the lay-off lists every few months. In IT when the IBM outsourcing occurred no management was outsourced.

April Fool's Day!

It's not cool to work at juniper anymore.

Don't be fooled. Don't be a fool. Update your resume, find a new job, be cool.

I hear it's May. But even if it's April, what difference does it make?

It's rolling layoffs every 3 months at Juniper. After a while, one becomes numb and succumbs to thoughts of not IF, but WHEN it'll hit you (there's a clock above your head).

The only way to get ahead of this is to prep for technical interviews sooner rather than later.
