All sales coordinator, Sales Lead positions are to be eliminated. This includes stores who still have footwear, jewelry and appliances leads/coordinators. All other leads will be part time. Stores will be losing all Full time positions with the exception of Supervisors. All remaining ASM positions will be changing to Supervisors. Some supervisor positions will also be eliminated based on sales and store performance. Lots of other changes will also be announced regarding benefits for next year and pay structures. Stores losing Supervisors or leads will assign designated leads as key carriers.

O.P., this exact thing happened to Kmart stores over three years ago. One day everyone had a job and the next day they let all the leads go, cut hours and made a few part timers key carriers. ASM's went from salaried to hourly, with 48 hours being the max they could work (no overtime). We also went from four ASM's down to two and then down to one. Also, eliminated most of the back room people and made floor salespeople do the truck unload.
After all the cuts there were only a few full timers: HR, managers, and two supervisors everyone else was part-time 30 hours or part time 16 hours or less.
seems like every employee at every level is just jumping through hoops to look like they're still trying to do their job to me, pretty obvious at the store level at my store anyway there is no coming back from all this.
Is it now? Or is it going to be like the 5 million other “impending” IBOs claimed almost weekly on here that strangely enough never seem to happen? If memory serves, the most recent one was supposed to hit on May 5th—a Sunday, then it got moved to “later this week,” and now it’s back to an indeterminant time “soon.”
Why wouldn’t they eliminate the HA lead? When they can just make the Hardlines Supervisor do the job which they should be overseeing anyways. Plus it’s not like Sears is selling appliances like they used to. Majority of it can’t even be ordered. There really isn’t a need for a HA lead. Back then when business was still steady maybe but not anymore.
Even though appliances count for half of the store volume, I can see dropping the full timers to part time because they dont care about the employees. Yes it will more than likely cancel there insurance and benefits, however the only thing they care about is saving the company money and trying to keep it afloat. I could be wrong, hopefully it doesn't happen, but it doesn't look to promising.
This goes beyond pay and hours. If full timers who have medical benefits are dropped to part time they will no longer qualify for health insurance and will have to pay for COBRA which is extremely expensive. If they are undergoing ongoing treatment or medical care it could be devastating.
Fine Jewelry and footwear I would understand. But in stores were HA makes more than 50% of Store volume I highly doubt that they would eliminate the HA lead. If they have two then maybe only one would stay.
I don’t understand where this information comes from because we haven’t received any official communication or layoff packages for associates.
We know it’s going to happen soon as mention by our market leader but there would be no way of knowing the specific positions yet this is not true.
It's happening next week? We haven't received any news on this about eliminating these positions.
Back in the good old days at Sears, talking up until the 1970's and early 80's, Fulltimers were considered an asset to Sears....especially in big ticket departments where these associates produced sales and profit to the company.
Nowadays, Fulltimers are considered a liability to the company.
I can remember Store and Ops managers remarking that there were too many full timers in certain departments.
As store sales numbers fell and payroll hours were cut, what was once a sufficient number of fulltimers now became "too many".
As those Full timers left the company for greener pastures, they were replaced with part timers.
Whether Sears can survive with a primarily part time workforce has yet to be seen.
TRUTH!!

They need to eliminate commission sales, we are one of the only dinosaurs still paying commissions.
At any given time 8 to 12 associates standing around doing nothing as the members wait in long lines!!!
