Keeping in mind that we’re a big company, with offices located worldwide, whenever I hear of layoffs I always get the feeling that there are more of them happening in some other “corner” of the company, and that that is in fact an organized wave. So, can we get some indication about what parts and locations were hit recently?

The "country club won't be THAT affected as we have a substantial legal protection against dismissal. This seems to be a different story in the US. Very interesting comments and new insights though in this forum. Thanks, guys!
Anywhere and everywhere except Germany. The country club will never be affected
Only problem is, these directors will keep their jobs while the real contributors will lose theirs! Isn't it what's happening at SAP now???
There is definitely a lot of "fat" that needs to be trimmed at the Vancouver office. They have so many directors without any direct reports and they all work from home (preparing Powerpoints) - the situation is a joke!! You guys from the Vancouver office know exactly what I am talking about. Get rid of a few of those noncontributing individuals and you will save a lot of money so you don't have to layoff the lower pay productive workers.
Vancouver has been hit again
