Cutting down on management

Walmart is testing out a new employee structure within its stores in an attempt to cut down the size of its store management staff.

The nation's biggest employer is looking to see if it can have fewer midlevel store managers overseeing workers, with these managers seeing both their responsibilities and their pay increase.

Walmart has been trying to trim its labor costs, but still needs to retain workers and attract talent in a tight labor market.

The new structure is already in place at 75 of its stores, and will be expanding to departments across 50 other supercenter locations over the next month.

It is taking place in our store. I love the idea because its their way have weeding out all the junk. The ones who work hard are finally getting it paid off. They are changing dept manager roles, the new role leads are chosen by taking a test and letting the associates choose. With a pay raise! The ones left over well, on not sure what happens with them I imagine just like the zms position, another job or severance package.

It might work but not the way they planned. With less workers and management shelf will not get filled, pallets won't get pulled, lines will get extremely backed up.. Customers will go other places until Walmart is a jazed up KMART 2.0 SAVE A PENNY SPEND A DOLLAR

Walmart annual gross profit for 2018 was $126.947B, a 1.87% increase from 2017. If the CEO and Chairpersons cared for more profit then perhaps they should eliminate their bonuses and cut their cost of living pay. But in an effort to please shareholders at the expense of cutting out those who have dedicated their time and effort into Walmart middle management, we know this will not happen.
