Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Goodbye to Analytics team

In my region, entire Analytics Specialist team is eliminated except for one foreigner, after the merge of the Analytics team with the DDM Database team. Then the only one foreigner resigned to join a partner. So we no longer have any Analytics specialists! What a plan!

It is sad to hear, especially for troubling areas within SAP like SAP Analytics and SAP HANA where things are being run like a gong show. Unfortunately the German leadership under Gerrit Kazmaier is very toxic. Problem with Analytics not resonating within customers? Blame it on the Pre-sales and Analytics Specialist folks on not knowing how to position the product. Problems with automated tests failing? Delete them all because it takes too much Development effort to fix. Launch of a new product, that is not yet ready for general market adoption? Instruct all to aggressively sell, and oversell the product to customers at Sapphire. Critical about Analytics or HANA? Get rid those with strong opinions. It's probably not a bad thing if you are asked to leave, or being let go. There is no point in staying within a business unit that is run like a Zoo.

New members will take care of the Analytics portfolio. We don’t have to worry as customers are always first priority to SAP. The ones who left or are let go will find some other pursuits so we wish them good fortune too.

Analytics, AI, Machine Learning, Data Lake, Big Data, all meaningless buzz words given new life so marketing can fleece customers, sorry - had to speak the truth.

Analytics is one of the hottest fields now. It is SAP’s loss and will cost them a lot more once they realize they need to hire people with these skills.
