Thread regarding McDermott International Inc. layoffs

Stock price one year ago was $22.

To think the stock price was $22 a year ago and I was sweating about the health of the company.

Now I know that they’ll have to cut all the CBI dead weight (like everyone who came from the acquired) before they get to me.

Flex days! Seriously dude. Let's go RETRO!

A year of rowing like galley slaves and we're down $3,000,000,000. Obviously the emphasis was misplaced. We can learn from our stubborn misguided preconceptions, right? Even a flatworm can learn. Maybe the C-suite needs to watch some videos on Onshore. But keep them short, seven minutes at most. And no more than two syllables a word.

Heh, heh. Just kidding. Can I have my flex days back?

No?!! j--koffs.

"So apparently it’s perfectly acceptable to wish everyone a blessed Ramadan but inappropriate to say merry Christmas."

Yes, I heard some managers saying "Happy Holidays" during Christmas to be overly politically correct. At this rate, in the future, we won't be able to say happy birthday either because it hurts the feelings of the others who were not born on the same day.

At least we still get ice cream socials and tacos at my office. Blue jeans could be every day. Not like we have people coming into the office.

It may have been $22 a year ago, but it was a low-quality $22. Today's $8 stock price is much better qualitywise and reflects the impact of the many improvements that have been made over the last 12 months. One Team, One Vision.

"I hear we're going charge employees for parking. Got to raise cash somehow."

That is a new low in MDR history, if this is true. Health benefits already really s--- and 401k is not that good either. Perhaps, we have to pay to work here in the future.

Industry has a long memory and I won’t ever hire anyone with long CBI tenure. Your worthless and it shows.

Yep. Cut 2/3 of the headcount. CBI had twice as many employees as MDR. Then you can run all the Onshore and Technology with whoever's left. I like your gumption. It's that kind of spirit that made DD think that Onshore was just like Offshore. You just gotta change a coupla letters and SHAZAM! you've turned a sickly struggling Offshore company into a mighty Onshore company! A New Kind of Company. An ONFFSHORE Company. It's a portmanteau that investors will learn to love! Then 10 months later you're writing off half your investment. And you're selling off divisions to raise cash, not unprofitable divisions but the steady earners. And you're not paying suppliers. And you're diluting equity. Careful what you wish for. Like it or not everyone that came from the acquired are keeping you from being crushed.
