More to the floor

This program is starting in my store we 18. Prepare yourselves claims people! This wont be pretty!! Claims is responsible for zoning, signing, labeling, and condensing the clearance isle. Also will have to go to courtesy twice daily to process returned claims. Oh and by the way....doing all of this on 16 less hrs per week.

We started, and yes, processing is now taking longer because all dept. merchandise is scattered throughout the 4 bins. The clearance isle thing so far isn’t too bad, because our store is in good shape there. But the markdowns do not come the same time as the deletion list two weeks before the mod drops. The claims/receiving simplification is not simplified. 1/2 the time the apps do not work, or the equipment. Administrative duties, the lockers, ordering GNFR, trying to trouble shoot malfunctioning equipment, ordering and shipping non-functioning equipment, warehouse returns, checking in equipment, monitoring supplies, submitting tickets to store support(which is no support at all), covering receiving, going to courtesy desk, endless questions from DM and ASMs on how to process, and the funniest part, WAITING FOR MANAGEMENT TO SHOW UP TO VERIFY IF CLAIMS AND DMs KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DEFECTS, SELLABLE MERCHANDISE AND STOLEN PACKAGES! AND THE TRAINING DOESN’T EVEN COME DOWN UNTIL MAY 28TH AND THE PROGRAM HAS ALREADY ROLLED OUT! This is the NEW face of WalMart. The people who will be “training” will probably never have worked this or any position. The training will be all power point and give no more information then we have already received. WELCOME TO WALMART, HAVE A NICE DAY. I love my job, have held it for over 20 years, have seen and accepted many changes, but this one...THE ROCKET SCIENTIST THAT THOUGHT UP THIS ONE, EPIC FAIL! They have no concept of what goes on in the stores, and no idea about how the claims dept. runs. It’s just SOPs/OBW on a website to them, information that is only 65% accurate. My goodness some of the directions still talk about using the web menu program that hasn’t been used for two years. Or ordering 99 supplies through “my productivity” which has been obsolete for almost a year! But I just work here and take saving the company and it’s customers money has always been what they pay me for, but this process concerns me. WalMart is so busy chasing Amazon that it took the customers complaining about the FF in the companies CFF score for them to start to realize that customers want friendly customer service not apps and self-checkouts. Apps and self checkouts that aren’t always quick and easy to use, and definitely not user friendly. Wake up WalMart, don’t get rid of your most valuable commodity, your associates. WalMart-where our associates make the difference. Good ol’ Sam...he and his wife knew what they were doing...

We’ve been on this MTTF nonsense for 2wks now. I can assure you, it is a 💩 show. I do the grocery claims / clearance. I have 4 bins in grocery and it’s still a mess every morning. Ppl still leave all depts in groc bins on top of returns. I still cvp dry grocery as well as cleaning up the clearance endcap that the mod team is constantly plugging with non-tagged mdse. Deleted bins aren’t even being used. I was told to continue doing groc claims bc DM doesn’t have time. Recently had a regional walk. RM said there shouldn’t be that much groc claims. Ok, you take that up with 2nd/3rd shifts. He also said that DMs are to do their own claims during their shift then mkt mgr said I have to do it when they’re off. I’m not really sure who is supposed to do it bc it’s not covered in OBW. Its utterly inconsistent. Am I supposed to know when the groc DMs are off? I’m not going around making sure their claims are done. And it completely confuses sales floor ppl. Like one day, claims go to DM then another it comes to me. On GM side, they didn’t give us a valley. We got one side counter facing GM action alley. And it’s destroyed daily. Mod team again plugging non-priced mdse. Mdse that’s supposed to stay in home dropped in clearance. What was so cost prohibitive about a central location for claims? They’re gonna find out come inventory day in a few months. Shrink shrink shrink. God, I hope this one bites em in the butt.

Anyone else being told clearance is only a 2-3hr a week responsibility?

We start this soon..2 WEEKS BEFORE OUR INVENTORY. They already started having us create the deleted bins and work the NonBasic, but it's damn near impossible with all the work in a busy Supercenter Claims dept. We have been getting bombarded with depts claims since they trying to get rid of everything defective/unsellable before our inventory. With the staffing in our area, we can only literally put one associate on Clearance duties.

How many of you are getting an entire valley? Our store has 10 4ft sections for clearance & have been told that's all we are getting. There are certain depts that have to keep the clearance in their depts, they cannot come to the clearance isle. Also the CVP item go to the depts not the clearance isle. We're hoping to keep it manageable this way. Will let you know!

To the one asking about severance, we will not be offered severance. Our job title is not being eliminated, just adding responsibilities. I too was hoping for severance.

So with the upcoming restructuring of leadership in the buildings which includes the elimination of DMs and the implementation of More to the floor does that mean team associates will make the claims decisions? Also noticed availability team associates will scan in ASN and DSD. Not all deliveries are ASN. I am curious how these proceses are more accurate especially in complex stores?

I am hoping for that soon they change our title so maybe they will offer severance. 33 years is enough for me! This is such a huge mess!

We started Saturday. It is terrible. 4 bins at my store are overflowing and stuff in the floor and on shelves. Takes so long to go through these unorganized bins. With going to sd twice a day I spend more time doing claims now than ever! No time to breath, let alone go start a clearance aisle. Store mgr is clueless to how much we do. Also, fastenal Locker’s, sending out broken equip (a lot in this store), gss, and all the extra stuff emailed to do daily by st mgr! I signed up for claims, not the floor.

@4euc I asked my SM the same question about dsd, her answer was "you'll have to figure it out ". She said the company feels its doable so therefore it will get done. Period. End of discussion.

When I first started with WM back in '98 claims came to Courtesy Desk 2-3X daily on their own. We'd often be told to page for them once defective items began piling up. That was back as a division one store. We're a Supercenter now and have a supervisor and 3 FT associates but with all the added grocery receiving duties plus everything a GM receiving associate used to do before it was all combined. It's a struggle now I tell you!

My question is since my store will be starting this soon, how will claims also cover dsd all day along with all this c-ap?

We got the "talking points" about more to the floor program today. Not looking forward to this. Our SM said it's only gonna take an hour or two a day to keep the clearance isle tip top. Uh huh, sure! 🤥

I've talked to a couple stores that have started this, I'm in California, and they are really struggling. It takes all day to get the clearance isle cleaned up and no time to process claims. On days that there is only 1 person working, nothing gets done in claims. Even on days there are 2 people, not much is being done in claims. One of the claim supervisors has already been threatened with coaching because her claims area is a disaster now and they cant get it cleaned up. Mngrs are more concerned with clearance isle because customers can see it. Been with Walmart 26+ yrs. 17 in claims and 8 as claim sup. I have a feeling this will be the end fir me.

This is going to be a disaster for high volume stores.

The packet basically says since DMs s--- at merchandising clearance, lets give it to Claims and give DMs the power to CVP and dispose. Yeah, Claims is still doing Customer Service Returns, but how the hell will there be any organization if almost all the dept bins are going to be taken away from Claims? I can't wait to see this program completely fail in our store.
