Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Cutting hours or people?

My DM told me and my SM we wouldn't have to do any layoffs, just to cut everyone's hours. He said we were allowed to cut full time employees to part time causing them to lose their benefits because they will just be eligible for Covered California. How many hours are stores losing that they're being told to do layoffs?

I'd like to know this as well. I think I'd be happier if I was laid off instead of having my hours cut to being part time. But that's just me.

Hmm what state are you in? I even called ER and asked about cutting full time employees down to part time. They gave me the same answer as my DM, "yes you can cut full time employees to part time". We still haven't received any information about layoffs, so we are moving forward with making a schedule where literally every employee will get 20 hours or less per week. Every non leadership shift will be limited to 5 hours so no lunch break is needed.

My store lost 50 hours per week in front of store. We are letting 2 part time positions go and cutting part timers hours by 3 hours per week. Full time is not impacted. We were instructed in tge "official script" not to offer full timers to go part time but if a full timer was selected for severance, that they MAY be able to go to part time instead if that was what the employee wanted but management was not to offer or encourage it. By opting to go part time they lose severance.
