With the not-insignificant cut to the budget of seven percent, it is clear that we can now be nearly certain layoffs are coming. What I would like to know is who will be hit - there is talk of some faculty being affected, but it is still all in the realm of rumors.

As any decisions will not be made until after May 10, it’s premature to speculate on this outcome. Here is more information from a recent Salem News article, Layoffs may hit staff at Gordon College. In the story, the college says it plans to reduce its $58 million budget by $4 million to "get ahead" of the financial struggles that have led some colleges to close and invest in new programming. It appears the current budget reduction process is not finalized and will not be for several weeks.
