Thread regarding Ford layoffs

LL4 said Things to Get Crazy Week of May 13

The management team has been in private meetings every day this week as has HR. A LL4 told my teammate it will go down the week of 5/13. I saw my boss's boss with printed spreadsheets of names in boxes. I am in a branch off IT. I believe no one is safe.

Well once the LL's start doing half as much work as agency employees and decide to take 70% pay cuts to match the agency salaries maybe they will target agency more. From my experience many (not all) LL's and GSR's just pass off the work the agency grunts. Maybe some higher up realized this.

One of Ford organizations had 246 agency employees as of beginning of 2019. As of today this organization has 240 agency employees. That tells you this Smart Redesign is so dumb and unrealistic. How will Ford cut cost when Ford is not reducing any workforce?

It is reliable. I know the tool they are using. One department has the new structure. Now they are in the process of slotting in names.

“printed spreadsheets of names in boxes”

Based on what I heard from Research&Advanced Engineering (where Wave 4 is already finished), this was EXACTLY how wave3&4 was done...

Thanks for dates. We have only heard done by end of May. I am so weary of this. People are exhibiting increasingly poor behaviors to make themselves look better at her expense of others. I have learned the true nature of many of my coworkers. Yeah Jim, loving the culture you have created.

Can confirm senior IT leadership currently going through a process to select lower levels for involuntary separation. There is a tool they are entering names and ranks into with titles and responsibilities. The magical tool produces the smart reDesign. The tool does not understand the distinction between a standard issue LL6 and the LL6 who are really super GSRs, the ones who still do the lions share of the technical work and have a couple very technical reports. So expect the tool to select all the people who do real work for separation.

Not all that surprised that some IT leadership printing spreadsheets. The LL5 and LL4 were asked to provide names, ranks, titles, etc this week. I am sure they are trying to game the system to retain all their buddies.

From prior orgs that have completed the redesign, I have heard that BCG designed the boxes and the LL4s put names in them. Not sure if skill set is considered or if this is just a popularity contest. Very uneasy as our LL4 just came to the organization a few months ago and does not know many of us or what we do.

OP here, trust me this boss prints paper all the time. They were sitting at their office table handwriting on the spreadsheets. It's what I saw.

Why on earth would someone PRINT spreadsheets of names? Doesn't sound like a reliable rumor.
