List of Pier 1 Stores Closing

Does someone have a list of Pier 1 stores that will be closed? I am reading multiple reports today and it looks like 100+ stores may be shut down.

I found a brief list on the web, it has about 10 stores on it but these listed are the ones that got closed by Pier 1 prior to April of this year when the closure got announced.

Anyhow, see the list and expand if you have details...

Cheers!

The Pier1 Ward location looks like a ghost town compared to what it was right before Christmas. Sad.
There's nothing left. I saw plates for a $1 with a few chips and scratches. All marked down.

Unfortunately it feels like all the stores are closing.
This is starting to look like a nationwide closure.

Many stores in NJ are having what initially looks like liquidation sales with hired people standing outside with signboards, very tacky. But I’m sure at this point the only thing Pier 1 is interested in is getting rid of inventory. The employees are telling customers it’s only an inventory sale, I’m sure they have high hopes of not losing their jobs.

So my one of my local Pier One just closed doors 4 days ago. Sales on the last day were 90% off and the sales associate said the liquidator destroys whatever is still in the store unsold. Meaning they spray paint it or will break it apart.....yes, even if it's nice. It's very bizarre because you'd think they'd donate things to a shelter or something but nope. So if you can, try to scoop up some things at these sales and ask when the store is expected to close their doors because that is when the deepest discounts happen. Who can turn down 90% off nice things? I couldn't.

Going to miss you Pier One. Really am. :(

Why not have an online store, only. I would still purchase from Pier One because their merchandise is a step above other stores. Their buyers are amazing and their products are very high quality. I was there a week ago and was so impressed with how beautiful everything was. At least if you do purchase online you know their quality will be great. Do a FREE SHIPPING over $35. PLEASE DON'T CLOSE!!!

If they expect me to start shopping at Williams Sonoma or Neiman Marcus for plates, they can save it. I am not about to spend $50 on ONE plate at those stores, when Pier One had similar plates and dinnerware for less, about $12+ bucks. Nice things too.

I refuse to shop at Ross for entertaining guest or home decor. Everything in Ross looks cheap and is cheap. Not my style or cup of tea. I am really getting upset just reading and scanning the web about these layoffs. Off to do a little retail therapy, online I guess.

Gonna miss you Pier One. The employees were the best.

I just received an email that the location in Arlington, TEXAS (the Cooper store) is now closing and that was a money maker. Pier One is based out of Fort Worth, TEXAS which is literally 10 mins away from this store.

It's going to be a nationwide thing. Not just restricted to Alaska or Hawaii. The excuse of the "rent being too high" for the locations in Alaska and Hawaii sounds like B.S. because now the COOPER locations in TEXAS is also closing, which is practically a flagship store for the company in TEXAS. Is the rent too high for that store? I doubt it. Yet they are sending "30% +" emails out to customers too, days before Christmas 2019. This seems strange for THAT store.

So if the stores where this company is actually based out of are starting to close, then it's a wrap for Pier One. Expect them ALL to shut down soon. I loved PIER ONE, growing up and as an adult. Going there with my mom after church back in the day was a treat for us, and passing that tradition on to my own kids was a continuation of that. Hate to see this store slowly disappear like Sears did and other stores that reminded me of happier times. Very Sad.

I will get what I can during this sale at Cooper location in TEXAS, but I am also going to save a little for a rainy day. I don't like the feeling hearing about these Pier One stores closing with rumors that we are on the cusp of another recession starting. Save you money folks. Stock up on food preps too.

Hawaii stores are closing because the cost to operate is too high. Rent is very high, and the cost to get the product from the main land is outrageous too. Payroll is high, it’s just a bad mix. Companies who are there probably are only there to have a presence, and can afford to lose a little on the stores being open.

If people would quit shopping on line, stores might be able to stay open!!! Support brick and mortar stores...especially small businesses!

Something isn’t right.

The Pier One at Ward gets a lot of (foot) traffic. They have to shut doors by February 2020. The announcement Ward Pier One closing comes after much disappointment from the public when other locations closed.

Right across the street from the Pier One at Ward, there’s a Bed, Bath and Beyond that also announced they are also closing, and they’re having a 30%-40% off/close out sale too!

Why are all of these stores suddenly leaving the most populated parts of Hawaii? Something feels very off. These locations are in areas with consumers who have discretionary income and a lot of it. Hmmm.

I think you should leave at least one Pier 1 open on Oahu; sensible choice would be Ward due to many, many new condos in the area. This should be a no brainer decision! Also I see many Japanese visitors shopping to take back to Japan.

Hawaii does NOT have a "Home Goods" or a "Front Gate" or an "IKEA".

Pier One was the BEST place to go for unique and quality items to decorate the home.

This absolutely does NOT make sense to close all of the locations in Hawaii (Oahu).

I heard they turned the old Pier One out in Kailua into an Ulta Beauty after it began it's closeout sales in February 2018. I never thought they would clamp down on the other Pier One locations a year later, especially because those locations (Ward and Kapolei) are in areas with new housing and heavy traffic.

I hope this isn't a sign that a recession is looming, a la 2008 because if it is, I'm scared. Closing stores that actually had customers makes me wonder if this economy stats are just smoke and mirrors.

Today I can confirm that the Kapolei Pier One is closing and must close doors by December 19th. Everything!!! The Ward Pier One just received noticed two days ago that they will all be unemployed soon, and they have 10x more items than the others. Still can’t believe this. Where are we supposed to get nice furniture? Amazon or Wayfair with the $$$$$ shipping? My goodness this is dumb. Let corporate know they are leaving a lot of loyal customers and employees without a pot to piss in, not the ceramic kind found in the stores. :/

As a former 7 year long employee I'm very saddened to hear of the closings and would hate to see my store on the list. I still feel a strong personal connection to it and my fond memories of it even though I left over 5 years ago due to my high risk pregnancies. Hoping they turn around as I'd love to return to work eventually 😊

Pier 1 Imports is a great store, they have merchandise that is unique and can't often be found in other stores. But more important is their excellent Customer Service , which at our Local store is incredible , the Associates and Managers treat their customers like their friends! They go above and beyond to help their customers. These stores should not be closed, many customers will be very disappointed. It also, will be a huge loss for the retail world.

I worked my behind off working for Pier 1. Ended making a mere 9.75 per hour. I was there 2 years and got 2 raises 1 was 4 CENTS per hour the other was THREE!!! I opened thousands upon thousands of boxes. Loaded 150 lb. tables into customers cars. Got on top of high ladders to pull FURNITURE off of high platforms. Worked my tail off EVERYDAY. Then had to deal with a NASTY assistant manager who I witnessed many times treat not only employees but CUSTOMERS with complete disrespect. I actually saw one customer tell her that she owned her own company and if she was her employee she'd fire her on the spot for the way she treated people. Thank God I've moved on. Not at all surprised by their problems. The quality of their products has deteriorated throughout the years and their prices remain ridiculously high.

Pier 1 expects A LOT from its employees. Granted, the pay isn't competitive, but the expectations and requirements are explained at the interview level. In my experience at store level (I've worked from associate to manager over 8 years) people who complain about the work accepted the job just to collect the pay check and don't want to do all the job duties.

So sorry Pier 1 is closing! It is a bit pricey but it has some unique gifts! I hate shopping on line, I like to see & feel the items I buy & I want them now not in a week! If retail stores would keep their prices reasonable maybe more people would shop there
& not on line! I will miss Pier 1, like I miss Yoys R Us & Kmart.
