Has the time really come when a giant company like Qualcomm has to lay people off in the name of simple cost-cutting. As a fabless company that relies mostly on knowledge, laying of experienced and knowledgeable people is a dangerous game that could easily backfire. How com they are not aware that they are losing far more than they are gaining with layoffs?

qcom will see in the next 3 to 5 years, all the good talent is gone. qcom will be the next nokia.
cheap labor does not save them.

Actually it depends on how the layoff is done. Properly executed, it helps removing dead weight and bring new blood in.
