When will layoffs start for back office personnel?

Layoffs will start well before the acquisition as soon as Chevron decides how to proceed. Been through this with BG. Expect at least 700 gone by deal close. Then 2500 more within 3 months after deal close.
I agree. Most people go into panic mode the minute an acquisition is made public. It takes time to make changes due to redundancy. It will happen eventually.
Layoffs of non essential personnel will begin sooner than you think, but not until the acquisition is complete, proper management and turnover tasks are completed. As low level some of the back office functions may seem, there are vital records that must be kept and organized. It could costs hundreds of thousands of Dollars or millions if certain people in charge of documents and data all of a sudden purposely lose or destroy them out of spite. All personnel are safe for a few months at least. Most will remain untouched for about 1 year, which is standard practice.
