Hmm, does the OP know the details of the settlement? Let me spell it out, GD knew and you should too.
Apple just played their card like a true master tactician. Not a single engineer or lawyer on the jury. Qualcomm had zero chance of prevailing with our technical strategy in front of that jury. SM saw the handwriting on the (patent) wall and knew we had to settle. TC got what he was asking for all along.
What's in the new royalty agreement? None of us will know anytime soon, NDAs have that intent. Those billions Apple was holding back, only a fraction will be collected, but that too is in the settlement, under NDA.
Believe me, GD knew Intel's plan on 5G before he jumped ship. Last week, in cahoots with Apple, Intel stated 5G plans were on track. No one believes today's Intel 5G business plan announcement wasn't in the works last week, no coincidence the announcement came out same day Qualcomm settled.
