I worked at Shopko for more than 15 years. I loved it. But once they removed the cash office employee and changed how they reconcile their money each day, I knew it was over for them. I got out while I could. I feel bad for the employees who put their hearts and souls into the company and had retirement and all that for what?
It became a company with no pride or integrity. You were constantly told to do more with less by people who didn't work in a store.
Hours were cut, people were cut, even the janitorial staff that cleaned the stores were cut. It then became the job of the receiving clerk to clean the store each day.
You couldn't find a friendly employee if you were on fire. Staff was snarly and management spent their time at the corner of the building smoking. I really did love my store and the employees there, but I stopped shopping there a long time ago.
