Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The same old story

One would think the company would try something different in it’s business, something that didn’t lead it into bankruptcy in the first place, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. If they are implementing any changes, I imagine they would have to be visible on store level, cause that’s where money should be made, but I don’t see any changes. Same old ways and same old unprofitably.

@iacv most of these dilapidated stores have been on sale for years without any bites. Eddie will sell them for the change in your pockets. We all know the condition Eddie's been keeping the stores in. Any potential investor is going to look at the stores that no longer have a QMTs or cleaning crews and say, "aw hell no!" at any price. Just the price of remodeling them makes them a non starter.

Eddie was running the show when the company declined into bankruptcy....Eddie is still running the show now.

Unless he suddenly magically acquired the knowledge and ability to successfully run a retail business, it will be more of the same old story....cut and slash, close stores, until there is nothing left.

You are sadly under the impression that the powers that be are running things for the betterment of the company and its employees. When the reality is lots of scheming and scamming the company's remaining profits and once they are drained, Sears and Kmart are dead.

Our manager was overly excited about Eddie buying out the company and seemed genuine about it (or was very good at acting). Said that we were going to see some amazing changes in the coming weeks and that we were going to have a real big transformation. As far as I can tell, it's the same old tired inventory selection, sane old tired sales, same old tired ad sets, same old tired payroll cuts and the store still looks like its same old tired self.

Where is the change? Why did Eddie "save" the company if he's just picking up where it left off? Heck, what does he even stand to gain? What retailer or real estate investor wants to buy musty fusty, old, rundown Sears and Kmart stores in dead-end locations? Where is he even going to make his money?

@rtg We got shipments of lots of new stuff too. It doesn't make any difference if your store is profitable. It's all about how much money Eddie can get for the stores. All stores are for sale at Eddie's right price.

You don't know what you're talking about, we got shipments of new stuff in our store lately! Go back home and cry your store closed, because it wasn't profitable!!

Hell, these people need to get rid of the middle aged fat middle management in order to get any traction... unless they get rid of middle management fatsos with an innate ability to keep the status quo nothing will improve or change
