Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

JNPR HR practices

I used to work at JNPR in the field and can tell you that their HR practices are seriously suspect.

They talk a lot about fair practices but have experienced anything but.

Just one of many examples is that there is a policy that grade 8 SEs do not get promoted.

You do not become a grade 8 if your not really good, so their keeping their most talented people back

If Juniper HR was paying attention, they would check the heinous racism as Indian managers only hire and promote other Indians. No wonder there is such demand for H-1B's. Pradeep said it himself: Juniper is a Hindu company. A white manager would be immediately fired for such practices.

HR at Juniper is really non-existent.

They are too busy trying to survive the next round of layoffs themselves, so they just don't want to worry about anything else. :)

The salary comparison and cost to the company is not straightforward. Each employee gets health benefits, 401K matching and work space costs etc. These expenses have to be taken into consideration when comparing cost to the company.

Same for software engineers these days. It can take 5 to 10 years to even get to grade 8. The trend in AA organization is to hire three or more grade 5 or 6 freshers to replace one grade 7 or 8 in Sunnyvale. The cost is about the same to the company and AA will grow empire in Bangalore!
