Protected Sick Leave Policy - Whose F K N G Idea Was This???

I saw three employees in our store wearing masks this morning because they have the flu and don’t have enough protected sick leave to go home where they belong. Our customers are totally disgusted and have made loud nasty comments about it. Management’s response? Call Sedgewick! What a great business plan - kill off the employees and drive the customers away.

You people taking sides with walmarts point and attendance policy your time is coming when you get to sick and disabled to work they will kick your worthless and head full of bad wiring mind out the door. This is a baddddd company to work for and if you have been there a long time you are likely to have your hours cut and held much more accountable while the new hires get cut a lot of slack.Just a few days one there rogue ASM managers coached a elderly ladies for walking to slow. And then A 75 year old Associate complains about back pain because of heavy lifting 50 lb. bags of dog food. They told him to go home and not come back until he got a doctors note saying he could lift 50 lb.And give him a point for leaving as well. What A sh-- hole to work in.

Because they waste all of their points and want someone to feel sorry for them when they don't have any to use for a legitimate purpose. I have yet to see anyone get fired for attendance who used their points responsibly.

It is not made up, but I suspect they were doing it to make a point, not because they cared.

This has to be total BS - completely made up. I don't know any store associate that would have the good sense or care enough about other associates to wear a mask. Why do people post this made up BS?

At 5 absences within a month and a half? The new policy isn't the problem, it's that associate.

Exactly! Who can afford to go to the doc for the flu? Especially with Walmart insurance that covers nothing up to what 5000? For the record our last big storm was 10 inches but the 60mph winds and 10 foot snowdrifts were why the plows were pulled off the roads for 9 hours. Of course our DC won't excuse the absences even tho it was literally impossible to get to work. Our fire exits were blocked by huge snowdrifts for 3 days, some you couldn't even see the door, completely buried. Of course our worthless management was to lazy to grab a shovel, I'm sure OSHA would have had a hay day if they had found out...

Some people can’t afford to go to the doctor for the flu.

Major snow storms should come under MHRM approved. The MHRM would make the call to approve the absence facility by facility. In my area, one store could be unable to get to work while another store it is no problem. The last storm we had at my home I got 13 inches. The store got 6 inches. Other stores received 3 inches of snow. I was approved, it was on the news how much each area received in snow. My area is not heartless.

Diagnosed from a Doctor with the Flu? You will be out long enough to take an LOA. Problem solved. Do the LOA paperwork. The doctor can and will fill out paperwork.

Yea it's really great that we didn't get any PPTO up front. Now many at our DC are on the verge of termination due too multiple major snowstorms in February (it's kinda hard to get to work when the plows are being pulled off the roads). Sure the right thing to do would be to turn our now useless sick time into PPTO. This however is Walmart and that would defeat the purpose of stealing a BILLION dollars worth of sick time. Has anyone filed a class action lawsuit yet?

Yes I agree. This policy is stupid. We had to keep our kid home from school because she had the flu. My wife took a leave for 3 days to be with them and Sedgwick denied the leave because they said she didn’t have to be home with them. We are currently fighting it. Total BS.

We had an associate at our store complain to management about having to work with the flu and they told him to go work in the freezer 😂

No. There is a flu epidemic going on and they are legitimately sick. One has a sick baby at home and is worried about losing her job. We do have a couple who push their points to the max and look at ways to game the system, but that isn’t the case here.

Did they already piss away the four points they're allowed? We had like three people rack up four points within two weeks of the new policy starting just because they were too lazy to come to work. Hard to have sympathy for people who play the point game.
