Have a friend that work at GM. About a moth a go (In time when the GM layoffs were in play) we had a discussion and he was praising Ford for avoiding their “core workers” in the US with layoffs and cutting the workforce overseas instead, unlike GM which did the cut’s and plant closures in the US. Well , It turns out that Ford is doing this in a far worse manner and that the story of layoffs avoiding the US was just a carefully planted story to avoid people leaving and panic occurring. At least GM had the guts to tell their workers what’s gonna happen and what the number of laid off workers will be.

Ford wants to appear as a kind benevolent SE Michigan USA company.
Bill wants to have the appearance of the good guy.
Hackett wouldn’t be doing anything that the Ford family didn’t sanction.
The leadership at the company is very poor and continues to decline.
This whole mess starts with poor board decisions based on bad data supplied by poor leaders who have self-serving interests Being a good corporate steward is the last thing on most of the LL5+ minds.
I have sat through many meetings with the LL5+ crowd at Ford in my 25 year career (finance, IT, project management, management). As a PM you have an enlightening view of what really goes on at Ford. 20% of LL5+ at best are doing the right thing for Ford. And of that 20% the majority have been external hires late in their career. What has been most disturbing about this stealth lay-off to me (in my limited lay-off view) is that all of the laid off have been from the 20% who were doing the right thing for Ford. My educated guess is that the other 80% planned and engineered that result.
Anyone who has any awareness of the real Ford culture could of predicted this result. Bill included.
So for those of you dumping all the blame at Hatchets feet, he did not do this alone. He may be unqualified for his position, but Bill knew that from jump.
I blame Hackfat. Worst leadership in over 115 years of this great country. How Little Bill allows this is unconscionable.
Sad thing is that these folks they are mistreating would be retiring in 5-7 years anyway. That's not how you treat your workers, those that have contributed do much to your success.
