Lost a lot of colleagues that I'd consider friends today. Very sad day. Hackett has given the keys to the asylum to the high up inmates to restructure the organization they b--tardized on their way up the ladder. Now holding middle management hostage until final cuts in MAY ( yes 2 more months of indecisiveness and worry by employees)- the days of people wanting to work at FORD as a family business are over. Sad Day.

I would agree that the layoffs are because people are in the wrong place. Management is looking for 8 levels of management between Hackett and GSRs. Also looking for at least eight people reporting to one supervisor. There are supervisors with fewer then that number of people reporting to them. Those positions are going to be eliminated or combined.

A lot of it seems to be you are in the wrong position at the wrong time. Seems to be less about performance than it should be...which is why details of the actual process for decisioning have been scarce. What theyve done in previous waves is spend a good chunk of time in an offsite figuring out how they want the departments to be designed. There seems to be some means to pick and choose who to keep or let go, reassign, etc. There are some concerns from people Ive talked to that if youre new to your team, or not "tight" with the next level up, you may be an easy target regardless of how you may perform long term.
