It most be a nice job to scan these forums and rebuke everything. It's not management on this site they don't even know how to speak to employees that's why the supervisors are there as a buffer. Its people who make a living that pin employees against each other and always say the union is the big bad wolf. Pretty strange since most utilities and fireman and police and emt even mta have unions protecting them from people who only care about profits and the bottom line.

Actually, I do know. Do you? Or are you just basing your opinion on hear say and union rederick? Not every phone guy or lineman is a 6 figure salary. And some ATS guys are.

So if you think you have it better than phone and power you are living in denial. Are you sure your not management?

So, if all the utilities jumped off a bridge, would you?

Seem that mgmt must be trying a new strategy as they failed in Hawthorne. Has anyone noticed how Squam/ CSI has been hiring like crazy? They’re build up in prep for taking most of your jobs. How’s that electrical tape working? Doesn’t even stick. With or without a union your always gonna have lazy workers. Your fooling yourself if you think you can trust your management. Can you name any utility who is not in a union? Protect yourselves. Remember that the more we have in a union the more leverage we will have.

Same old tired union propaganda from the usual suspects. And to top it off, I’m sure I’ll be following up on some of their repeats today. Try running a drop instead of running your mouths.

Also do we think the union guys would agree to pull out if they cant get us a good deal (actual job security)?

Or agree not to charge 2% if they cant get a no layoffs clause?

I think we all know the answer. And if thats the case then why would we do it? What do we get out of it?

"A seat at the table" is not a reason. "Job security" doesnt exist without a no layoff clause.

Think about that, we sign without that and the company has more incentive to get rid of us

"This is all because they took a 2% sign on bonus to join Ats. Instead of a union."

Not accurate. Guys moved over to ATS, and then started leaving on their own to other jobs when they realized ATS is run poorly.

Yeah plenty of guys have left because ATS is hard core but they didnt lay any techs off.

This is my biggest issue with the union thumpers, you want us to sign over 2% of our check when you arent going to be able to bargain a worthwhile deal and say misleading things like i quoted.

You got jokes I hope your Coworkers don’t feel the same good take the bx as an example over 230 techs before Ats now they down to under 70in house including Osp they are 205 contractors working in their place. This is all because they took a 2% sign on bonus to join Ats. Instead of a union. Enjoy your Decision.

Or we vote yes, let the contract manage out all the guys that think it’s gonna protect them, and then decertify and get some new talent here.

Thanks Janna, but I think we’ve heard enough from both the CWA, and Altice management. We’ll make our own decision. Neither of you have the employees best interest in mind. CWA wants our membership dues, and the company wants our sweat as cheaply as they can get it. Now it’s time to decide what the techs want, you know, the ones who’s lives are actually going to be affected by the vote. So do us all a favor, and lay-off!

"It doesn't make sense for us to go union now. We still have a year left on the state agreement and if the company doesn't make anything better we just vote the Union in next year.

Nobody likes this company but if we're going to approach this from a long-term strategic sense, we should wait.

These Union guys can't tell me a good reason to go now instead of waiting.

Going the same time as Hawthorne doesn't help us since we're separate units"

NO YOUR WRONG. IT WOULD BE IN YOUR BEST INTEREST TO UNIONIZE RIGHT NOW. THE MORE SHOPS THAT DO THIS NOW, THE MORE BARGAINING POWER YOU'LL HAVE AT THE TABLE. DO NOT WAIT FOR MANAGEMENT TO UNILATERALLY MAKE MORE ADVERSE CHANGES TO YOUR EMPLOYMENT.

DO YOU KNOW THAT IT WAS CWA THAT PUSHED TO HAVE THE 4 YEAR NO-LAYOFFS CLAUSE IN THE PSC AGREEMENT?

ALTICE WILL CONTINUE TO DO WHAT THEY'VE BEEN DOING.... THEY STARTED BY SHUTTING DOWN THE SHELTON CALL CENTER AND IT WILL END WITH RIDDING THEMSELVES OF ALL IN-HOUSE TECHNICIANS.

PROTECT YOURSELVES NOW!

BROOKLYN JUST RATIFIED NEW CBA GUARANTEEING THEIR EMPLOYMENT UNTIL 2023. WHY ISN'T MANAGEMENT SHARING THIS FACT WITH YOU?

YOU'D HAVE TO BE A FOOL TO THINK ALTICE HAS YOUR BEST INTEREST AT HEART!

Yeah and not for nothing but, im not about to vote in a union thats gonna be hard as hell to get rid of under the 'hope' that we can consolodate both shop,

They couldve done that on the initial petition, and why would the company agree to that?

Think about that, you are the company, your at the table and the union says "we want to combine wap and hawthorne".

Would you agree to that? You would just hand them leverage like that?

by

Post ID: @1sfa+Y4DEOpM

Wouldn’t that be like joining shops? Would I have to worry about a LTA FTTH guy bumping me for my shift back up in Wappingers? Would it place a new guy even lower in seniority if we combined for the union? Those guys made a choice to go south. Let them deal with the consequences.

A contract for 40 is less powerful than a contract for 160. I wouldn't wait if you have the chance now to consolidate the 2 shops in 1 contract......not smart to hold off that's why you've seen them everyday. The company knows this That's why they're fighting you so hard. Overheard kf after his meeting in hawthorne say to another sup "I don't have to worry about my children, they'll play nice" while they both laughed.

To make their shareholders happy anything will done at all cost. Keep thinking you have a year or 2 lol Contractors = cheap pay= no benefits why would they keep shops open espically the ones that have seniors at higher pay scales working there. It does not make business sense and hurts the bottom line.

Y4DEOpM-xya, you don’t sound like a tech, you sound like a union rep. If you do a good job for Hawthorn you can earn our money. I guess I’m willing to bet on myself for a year that I can survive by being a hard worker. See you next March, maybe?

You might not have a year. Keep waiting for the promises, smoke and mirrors. Things can get worse on the drop of a dime. And on YOUR dime of you continue to let the company give you what THEY feel is adequate. Dex dont care, he gets his 40 million a year.

And if they do, then I guess we’ll vote for the CWA in a year. No one up here disagrees that you guys in Hawthorn needed a union. We know the supervisors and other management your dealing with. We don’t have those same issues now. So why shouldn’t we wait and see what you guys get? And I hope you get everything and more! But, for us up here to think we have it as bad as Hawthorn, is frankly, insulting to Hawthorn. You guys are treated like garbage down there. Up here, we’re over worked, but aren’t threatened or treated as bad. Best of luck with your negotiations, we’ll be watching, and rooting for you.

There is no kickback for being a shop steward. Stop being so salty up there. You guys are going to get punished worse if you decide not to organize because the stuff the company can't get away with down in hawthorne they're going to go up there and take it out on you. Watch out.

Or, maybe their %3.5 as per the usual, but the company doesn’t want to have an issue with the nlrb, being accused of trying to influence the vote by giving raises higher than the union is offering. But at this point if you’ve swallowed everything CWA Chris is feeding you, well you’ll swallow the %2 theory. And in that case, you’ll be voting for no raise this year. Except for the guy who thinks he’ll be shop steward. You know, the one, hope he’s the image you want representing us to management. Because I doubt he cares about anything more than the kick back he’ll get for the position.

Read the union contract did you see the raise in the contract. Now subtract the 2% for dues you still got more. On the other the union will save your job...lol
