Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

Studio Ent. now wants to buy Western State????

Studio is a creative arts school and now wants to acquire law school?? All of this is just setting up another disaster down the road. I suggest all Western State students get out now.... Studio is not WASC approved and the ABA might have a hard time approving it after the recent chaos. The spin off of Art institutes made sense they have no business running a law school its not right.

maybe they want to train lawyers in-house for all the litigation work the company would be dealing with.

1gir; 20-years from now most of these students will probably still be paying off their high student loans that were converted to trust funds for these criminal executives children. I am sure they would have experienced the fact that during the first 10 of those years their education was substandard compared to their peers and had to use those 10 years to catch up. So yeah, they will live with Ai cancer like the majority of the alumni....not sure if you think we forgot about that $20/million DOJ fine that still exists and hasn't been talked about lately.

You for-profiters still hide behind the student sympathy to feed your greed. Let's not forget that this was a CHURCH that purchased these schools and they did not do squat to try and raise money to save it across their VAST network of 'Dream Centers', NOTHING! So now we are to believe that a for-profit entity, with a for-profit motive is a savior? You neo-christian capitalist are so clueless. No one buys your nonsense (literally, thats why enrollments are down) anymore, the only people left working for these guys are the bottom dwellers with no talent, which is why they continue to fail as they continue hiring these id--ts. Hell, we already know Studio has hired the same mo--ns that were driving the system into the dump in the first place...who did the same thing...hmmmmmmmmm literally the same game plan regurgitated over and over...

What is clear is that Halperin will not be satisfied until South University and the remaining Ai campuses are closed. Listen up folks...If you are a student, faculty, or staff member at one of the continuing schools...Halperin is not your advocate. If you are an alumni of any of these schools, you should be thinking about the fact that your degree will have been issued from a school that no longer exists if Halperin gets his way. All this bad press will eventually go away but 20 years from now, it might be nice to have a degree from a school that is still open...so, the question is whether actual stakeholders of the continuing schools want to see these schools survive. If so, you might consider siding with Studio...they are the ones who have invested millions of dollars into saving these schools - and succeeded in breaking the schools away from DCEH...the schools they are working with do not have stipend issues, unpaid rent issues, or accreditation issues...Studio might just decide to walk away from all of this. If they do, it would be sudden and certain death for the remaining schools. Halperin and anyone who was adversely impacted by the schools that could not be saved would be happy...but would you?

Seems pretty clear that comments on this post are being seeded by people working for Colbeck, which created EPF and owns Studio and wants a big influx of Title IV $$ ASAP. Hussian is Studio's partner, but I think in this context Hussian is being invoked as a distraction.

It still has to get approved and Western only has classes till the 22nd..... so we're told next week we will get another extension likely but I do not know how fast the Dept. of Ed is willing to move.

I for one am greatful that Studio has stepped up to take over Western State. They saved a lot of AI and South campuses. I was getting worried that Western was going to face the same fate as other Argosy campuses. This is been a nightmare without stipends. Faculty concerned about how much longer they will get paid. This is a blessing.

So are you trying to say it makes sense for Studio to acquire these schools? you really think that after everything we just learned a creative art school should get a law school

@aez Pretty sure Hussian College of Art owns Studio School...also pretty sure the EPF can’t be owned by Colbeck Capital (not Colbolt) because you cannot own a non-profit foundation. I think what you meant to write was that Colbeck controls the EPF, which it does not (see the Ed Dive article that points that out). Also pretty sure inquiries are on and flowing to the schools that want them (not all of them want marketing).

Anyway, to recap...you are pretty much wrong about everything...

looks like Studio is ramping up operations at those campus locations finally. lots of admissions and mentor position just posted. funny, no academics...just front end investments..already see the failing playbook going back into action...

@jxs-Studio Enterprise OWNS Studio School (so YES they do "own schools"), EPF (or Colbolt Capital) owns Studio Enterprise...EPF owns the schools and Studio provides services (this was set up more for appearances, these are not truly "separate entities"). It's really not much different than DCF and DCEH. So, EPF is really a straw owner - Studio Enterprise will be running the show (until they shut down the schools, which is extremely likely. Wait until the next 'enrollment' numbers are in or go ask admissions. Admissions have not had any leads for over a month. The enrollment is about to free fall, Studio is aware of this). So the same people EPF/Studio are looking to pick up Western State Law School. THE SAME PEOPLE, just operating under different names - feel better?

Studio is a servicing company. They do not buy schools. Studio has not bought any Ai or South campus. It was the Education Principle Foundation (EPF) that acquired schools from DCEH. At most, Studio could help facilitate a change in ownership for the law school should a buyer become available. So relax...Studio will not own a law school - because STUDIO DOES NOT OWN SCHOOLS.

Feel better?

Studio grabbing AI makes sense but them grabbing a law school doesn't. Either way Dept. of Ed seems to like studio and will probably approve the deal its just unknown the future impact it will have on the law school.

The whole deal was set up apparently to have studio grab a subset of DCEH schools. See the info at: https://www.republicreport.org/2019/devos-fiddles-schools-burn/
