I posted this originally and have a long history with SAP. I have been on both sides of this. Layoffs have been ongoing throughout the years in SAP America some larger more visible, others smaller, quieter. This layoff is larger, More severe and public but controlled publicity as the reality is harsher than publicly stated. There will not be transparency. The public number of employees — the infamous 4400 is for the press and analysts. Look at this number and compare it with the estimated Euro cost for these layoffs...it does not make sense. The actual employees laid off will be higher. Sadly it’s just business as the spin about value and contribution, about defining your career is not included in this equation for these cutbacks. There is a target number, the human factor is irrelevant. It’s just business...loyalty is to your family, friends and colleagues but not to a company. SAP does treat its employees better than many software houses. IBM has had major layoffs with very sad severance packages. Do Not fault German colleagues for not understanding norexperiencing these bloodbaths as they are protected by law. US employees are always vulnerable...only changing the laws will change the process. It’s just business...so very sad but true. To those laid off, mourn your loss, don’t hate SAP..get EVEN by finding a better position where you will shine, be well compensated respected and appreciated.. possibly with the competition👍👍👍👍
