Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Qualcomm is still not that bad in general

I moved from Q to one of the so called big companies. . the culture in every big company is bad, add to it the stress of living in silicon valley with no affordable housing, traffic and general overpopulation and you start to wonder why anyone would move to these tech centers. Now lets come to talent, i would say in wireless (modem) and silicon, (cranking out a top of the line snapdragon) Q is still cream of the crop, execution in spotless. Yes there are some bad teams and little top heavy in few of the teams, but in general it is not that bad. what we need to really improve is our business team ...which i hope they do alogn with some exec shuffling to change the image na d don't be surprised by the number of boomerang employees who head back to Q. similar happend to MSFT..

Maybe its not that bad but it sure has steadily gone downhill. Just look at the healthcare now. Bottom tier stuff. Everything is shrinking aside from the 10th floor packets of greed.

I recently moved from INTC to Q, and It's much better over here than it was at INTC.

I heard the same things over at INTC "Back 8 Years ago xyz was better". I think what we see is essentially a societal shift in how workers are treated. You have to understand you're expendable to any company, all they care about are squeezing every ounce of productivity out of you to boost share prices and make share holders happy. Until workers learn that they actually have the power and unionize or something benefits are going to continue weaning away.

You are using a wrong comparison. When Irwin and Paul J ran the company it was an amazing place to work for. Best health plan, best option package, holiday parties. Then SM and his minions took over with no vision or anything. So now it is ‘not too bad’ but it is a s....hole compared to what it was.
