Thread regarding SAP layoffs

SAP is an asset on your resume

I know a lot of people are panicking due to layoffs, but you really shouldn't. Finding a job with SAP on your resume is not going to be hard - at least for now this company is well respected and having worked here is considered a plus.

I know this is a scary time, but the future is really not that bleak.

Having SAP on your resume is a plus but when you are 58 it’s not going to be that easy getting hired. My team lost 7 people last week all over 50 years old. Wasn’t very professional to get a call from HR to break the news. Managers were not permitted to even talk to their own employees being impacted. NOT a top place to work anymore.

There are two realities; 1) there are a lot of opportunities outside Sap right now and you need to start looking there now, and 2) I wouldn’t waste too much time trying to get an internal job because they really want to bring in people from the outside (I don’t know if it’s cost or age or other...but it’s known that a lot of mgrs are holding off on publishing jobs until the process is completed).

I'd say yes if you are on the tech side. If you are on the sales side or on anything that has to do with business (operations) we are just an average companies. But if you are a techie with some knowledge of our products, you are sitting pretty and any client would love to bring you on.

Well said. But, changing jobs is painful and not many companies will be as good as SAP when it comes to quality of work and peers. For example, Accenture has a few hundred open positions in their SAP pracitce, I would rather flip burgers than work for them again.
