Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Don't stay at Juniper more than 2 or 3 years

Instead of promoting from within and training senior engineers with new skills, Juniper is instead laying off senior engineers and hiring freshers just because they know how to code better and the cost of a fresher is 1/3 that of a senior engineer. Juniper is really a great place to work if you are a fresher and want to put Juniper on your resume but just don't stay longer than 2 or 3 years after you've learned everything you need to learn.

Took this as some good advice from @XwnpLaU-ungm . I agree 100%.

I'd take Sr. Engineers any day over freshers. The braintrust of experience is irreplaceable!

I agree with the last comment. Majority folks in Sunnyvale office are seniors. I don't think juniors can pull of delivering quality products. Great coding skills is one thing, but domain knowledge is equally important in networking development.

This is definitely not true in the US, where the majority of employees are senior. Freshers are a rarity in Juniper. Not sure about BLR. Also, you mention that freshers can code better than senior engineers. If this is really true, then Juniper is correct to replace senior engineers with freshers. However, this is far from the truth. Freshers need lots of hand-holding from senior engineers and are far less productive than senior engineers. Juniper has always given more value to senior engineers than freshers, at least in the US.

So, you get someone who can code better for 1/3 the cost. Win/win?
