Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

How can we have more layoffs???

So many people already gone, most of our best already sent packing... How in the world is laying off even more people a good business decision? Is the management trying to bring this company down?

I honestly can't think of another reason for such momentous stupidity.

yeah, the plan is working. make the company appear to be profitable by gutting as much headcount as possible, defer infrastructure costs, severances, etc into the nebulous future, rack up a ton of debt to s---ers who fall for the show and then run.

After layoffs, the people left behind will suffer. Those left have to work evenings, weekends and holidays. The Eng Management make them work like slaves since they are foreign developers who can't leave and held prisoners because of visa status.

As someone who left recently I’m saddened by the rumors of continued layoffs. The good news is that SPLS is a well respected name, and carries weight in the market. The bad news is that people will lie to you. Can anyone forget SG standing in the auditorium extolling the upside of the Sycamore purchase? It was business as usual. Or FS talking about all the wonderful things the e-commerce team was doing? It was a decade of lost leadership frankly, and the company has still not figured out a way to offset the slow sales decline in the core. First it was BOSS. Then Services. Whatever. Hopefully Sycamore will figure it out. But they could be lying too and just getting ready to break the company up for parts.

If you’re still there, dust off your resume and start looking. Best thing that ever happened to me was getting laid off. Things will NOT get any better, they’ll only get worse. Good luck and Godspeed.
