Walmart to Bring Back Holiday Pay

Bring it back. It is the only just thing to do. Now. It is a win-win situation, Walmart wins and the worker wins, the customer is happy as the worker behaves much better. And, stop whining about folks calling in sick, give us back our holiday pay and people will stop calling in. Win, win, win and win...

Wow your and id--t! Nobody expects Walmart to shut down on holidays, but it would sure work better for everybody if they offered holiday pay like every other company! Ya know show some appreciation?

You work for the world's largest retail chain where business is driven from Holidays. That's like b--ching about working at a Candy factory and having to work with sugar.

Yea we've asked for it in years past and we're told "oh no we couldn't possibly do that" LOL! Can't wait for Thanksgiving! May as well take the whole week off! 👍

They should give the DC folks who work on Thanksgiving the same 15% off that the store folks get.

They would have to work out how to handle that with the store or stores closest to the DCs as that extra 15% coukd kill their budgets and impact the My Share there. But that could be worked out.

At the DC we get NOTHING for working Thanksgiving, not an extra 15%, nothing. PPTO covers "black out" days so they may as well shut the DC down. Either give us a reason to be there, or good luck getting anyone to show up

I would guess major holidays will be protected days thus double attendance occurrences if people don’t show up.

As for thanksgiving in particular I’d rather have the extra 15% off WM gives for working that day as opposed to double pay. In my case it equates to more money in my pocket. But that varies by associate I’m sure.

Perhaps those who really do not want to work holidays would be better off working outside of general retail, food service, movie theaters, public service, gas stations etc be use those industries require it.

Well since every other company pays holiday pay surely Walmart plans to bring it back. After all we're being told Walmart is the "employer of choice" by upper management, LOL! Can't wait to use my PPTO on every major holiday, do these incompetent clowns really think anyone will show up to work? Why would anyone work Thanksgiving for normal pay??

Bring it back, no problem with that at all. But people will still call in.

I think the issue with “holiday” pay is that in the diversity of today’s world the word “holiday” is too inclusive for some to deal with..thus we get PTO where everybody decides what “holiday” to celebrate and get paid for. I’m not a fan of that mentality but I understand why they do it.
