Thread regarding Conduent layoffs

So, at age 63, I suddenly had no job, no income and no health insurance!

Been that way for a long time! I was laid off in March 2018 after 10 years! NEVER got a raise in the 10 years. Got a call o a Friday morning and was told that my position was eliminated. I was told that I would be done in 2 weeks! That's all the notice they give you. After 10 years, I got the maximum of 4 weeks severance pay... THAT'S IT!! I had 1 week of vacation earned through March and I had over 400 hours of sick time (didn't call out very often). LOST ALL OF THAT!!! Don't pay for vacation earned or sick time earned. They cut off my health insurance at the end of the 2 weeks. So, at age 63, I suddenly had no job, no income and no health insurance!

Feel for @Wottlwt-17bsn for everything that he went through. This is a typical example of what the company does to its loyal, long-time workers.

Not the end of the world. I did not work at the same company as you did but my story is the same. I got fired at the age of 61 (first time I have ever been fired in my life) by a young 20 something woman who then quit to have a baby. They had me sign a paper that promised that I would not sue them for age discrimination. In exchange I got $4k. I needed the money, like you no health insurance and a disabled spouse to support.

Then something wonderful happened. Three months later I found a fantastic job that paid me double what I was earning. Still working there and got a raise after my first year.
