Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Slow-motion liquidation

Glad that the media is talking about the real motives of Eddie’s strategy, given that they didn't speak on the subject other than the formal reporting. Finally, it’s becoming obvious that Sears can’t survive in any form and that this smaller footprint plan and Eddie’s bid are purely motivated by the need to have control over the liquidation and extract money much easier.

"I just don’t understand why you all are so defeatist. Why can’t it work? Are there metrics showing the new small format is a dud?" Yes, they tried a small store format, didn't work for them back then, not going to work now.

" What about e-retailing?" What about it? You honestly think that anything Sears will do online will even remotely compete with ANY of the major retailers? Not a chance.

"Eddie will invest in what makes the biggest return - don’t you all get that?" Yes, I agree with this statement. The biggest return though will not be through saving stores, but slowly selling them off via real estate deals. Remember, Eddie really didn't put up any of his own money on this deal, its pretty much bank loans which I'm sure he can delay paying off for years.

No he won't. He will continue the liquidation of real estate he bought the company for many years ago.

Don't you get it?
