Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Why no head cashiers anymore?

Corporate needs to reinstate the Head Cashier position! Getting rid of head cashiers meant losing the one other person who could do all those “manager card scans” so as a manager you weren’t being called to the front 30 times per shift. Really bad move on the part of corporate getting rid of a key support position! Why did they eliminate the head cashier position?

No what I mean is corporate said that our store is only slated/allowed to have 5 managers. We have 3 shifts 1 ops supervisor and SM. We could use at least 2 more managers but corporate won’t allow. Stupid number crunching department that probably made that decision by looking at numbers on a computer screen!

I’ve never had the shift supervisor thing enforced. I’m a minimum hour store and I run with 3 fulfill and 2 part time shifts. I know there are guidelines, but I never get told that I can’t have another shift. I only have two part time cashiers

Promoting more people to shift would be fine, except stores are limited to only as many managers as corporate will allow you to have. And besides right now at cvs there are only 2 positions ur either a cashier or a manager. Their are no longer any mid-level store positions. Just for example... You can’t run a store on just generals and privates. You need corporals and sargents too. (If you get the point of my illustration). Think about it... at our company all you need is ONE promotion and your a manager. Someone once described head cashier as “baby steps to management”. We need this for colleague development.

I was one for over 5 years until I moved into the Clerk/Cashier-RX position and lost my keys. At the time I transferred over I was one of maybe 3 in my district (we were all grandfathered in). It really did make life so much easier to be able to override everything myself.

But as with everything else that makes sense...
