I was let go on February 6th, despite being told earlier on that my performance was great and my workload was super busy. It was awful. Like a bullet to the head. When the email came out that morning mentioning that 50 people would be cut, it was the worst feeling. Everyone was worried sick and some started packing their personal items, including me. I was shaking and hoping the phone wouldn’t ring. But it did. My heart sank because I knew I was done. My time was up. Employees are so stressed over this situation, and will continue to be, because there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. The cuts continue. This will affect the economy in Chatham, and will also affect the families of the employees impacted. There will be many people on STD leave dealing with the PTSD from all of this. Our minds and bodies can only take so much. And the EVP says that this restructuring will make the company better?!?! When we learned earlier on that there would be cuts, we were told to be positive and focus on our jobs and do our best. Well, our best is getting us fired, and the remaining employees will question why they should be doing their best when it doesn’t guarantee job security. What happened to “happy employees, happy company” or “happy employees work harder?”

So it’s kinda like “Big bank take little bank”......with NO VASELINE
Spectra executives agreed to the merger because they were all made significantly more wealthy when their Spectra stock became Enbridge stock.
If Spectra was so great why were they not in a position to take over Enbridge vs the other way around. There must have been a reason the Spectra brainchild agreed to the merger.
When I got laid off, I was hoping the company would offer me a different position. Nope, just 'Thanks for working here. Bye bye now.'
I'm someone who has tried to give Enbridge the benefit of the doubt but is continuously disappointed. Maybe this is harder for the EGD people to see because they've been entrenched in bad vibes for a long time, or perhaps haven't seen what good leadership looks like recently. This was going to be a rough time regardless, but our EVP is simply not the right person for this particular time of change - her awkward, robobitc, unfeeling and dismissive vibe along with poorly chosen words quickly undo any progress the front line people leaders make in sparking collaboration and positivity, I dunno dude, many people shed real tears for Steve Baker and many would have followed him to the end of the earth including through layoffs, yet they picked a robot turd who is universally unpopular over him... leadership can't be a quality Enbridge values. Unless it's "cost leadership".
To the poster whose comment is below this one, perhaps the low morale at Spectra is due to a negative attitude, like the kind you exude in your post.
You are not alone. Everyone lives in fear every day and no one is engaged. Ever since Enbridge took over they have destroyed what was once a great culture at Spectra Energy and UG. This website wasn’t even known to Spectra employees before Enbridge came along. They have no respect for their people, they are motivated by greed. They are dishonest, disrespectful and will never be the company Spectra Energy was. They have lost engagement, respect and loyalty from all of their employees. Spectra employees worked together, always having one another’s backs no matter what and were proud to be part of such a great company. I am amazed at how quickly Enbridge managed to ruin such a great organization. They will pay a price for all of their mistakes. Just keep watching. It’s inevitable.
Where else did people get dismissed today ?
I absolutely hate this feeling of not knowing
Cannot focus on work or any task.
Feel no desire to do anything.
5 employees at enbridge gas storage let go so far today
2 so far at gas storage with more being called in.
So far it seems the Legacy Spectra group is not being hit as hard on the storage side of things.
Wishing everyone well on both sides of this.
ENB likes to use Wednesdays for layoffs.
Storage engineering, not storage and engineering.
Storage, Engineering, Business Development, Energy Services.
CH email this morning states we will be losing 50 today.
I heard 2 today at UG but didnt hear of any here at vpc today. maybe tomorrow is our turn.
Sh--ty. My heart goes out to anyone who has/will be let go. I heard Wed/Thurs this week for some departments and March for a second group, but that’s just the water cooler talk - I think they were successful at keeping the exact dates to a very small group. Anyway, I really feel for the people who are going to be quote unquote retiring but won’t get to have a official goodbye. I hope we as fellow employees can reach out to those people and arrange some gatherings outside of work for anyone who wants that (also respecting that some will not). Getting walked out is a sh--ty way to end a long career and it sounds like many have put their hand up to make room for those of us who “need” the job more. Much respect and thank you.

Had to start today to catch those that took tomorrow off. You can’t fool the grim reaper.
How many?
Where abouts?
I heard tomorrow was the big day
