Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Order 66 on Monday

I am, as well as all of you are, absolutely terrified of Monday morning.

I have already took all of my personal items home, with the exception of my computer mouse and water bottle.

I will trembling at my desk, just waiting for HR or my director to say: “I’m sorry sir, it’s time for you to leave.”

(I work in Detroit, in Global Marketing. Not IT)

Your post is exactly how I felt when GM laid me off 10 years ago, 9/23/09. Keep your chin up. You will likely end up with a better salary, better employer, and be happier in the end. I certainly am.

It's not at all performance based. That's why it's scary.

Knowing that the layoff wouldn't be pure performance based, it does got the sociological effect.

I no longer feel like not making it thru tomorrow is the worst. I think the worst is being left at a company that I have lost all respect for. Mary Barra and Randy Mott are morally bankrupt individuals who are taking the company down. Mary surprises me, Mott does not. A man who raises ostriches has lost touch with the average person so much that he has no idea what they want - employees or consumers

We are in Chandler and did the same thing. I know it's just a job but it's so nerve cracking the way they do it. I will try to meditate and do some affirmations to keep myself calmly no matter what but it will be hard for sure.

A lot of people near my cube did the same on Friday and I did as well. I haven’t been able to sleep or do anything this weekend because I just keep thinking about this upcoming week. Hopefully we’ll make it through and not get layoff but I think a lot of people are feeling the same way and acting the same too: Thinking positive but preparing for the worst.
