The short answer is no. He wouldn't be able to free himself out of a cardboard box. RR wanted BK to get a foot into Google, but Google doesn't operate that way... And BK was ousted from Google anyway. So, no, BK is not a good choice for CEO.

Bringing in a new CEO to lead juniper out of the mayhem is a great idea. However, any new CEO will have to cautious. What happened to SK with the board influenced (or I should say poisoned) led to SK getting screwed over. SK was ready to clean house and the mafia and fiefdoms wanted him out. RR knew he was going to be CEO, so he picked to opportunity - screwing SK over was RR's idea. Now things will come full circle... It's RR's turn to get shafted by the board.

Board is planning to bring in someone from the outside to replace RR. AA and BK bitter quarrels have left a bad taste in the board's mouth. They are not as smart as they think they are.

Chatter on another board is that BK transition will happen next quarter. The story doesn't seem to change that this BK move WILL happen....

AA vs BK is like alien vs predator. Neither will become CEO. RR will be replaced sooner than later, but the board is not stupid enough to replace RR with either AA or BK.

What happened in the Feb 5 meeting?

Having BRCM relationship from google, BK is at least in favor of moving in that direction to compete with Arista on their big boxes. Question is if it can be pulled off with enough resources .. it is not a small effort that can be trial and error in a sandbox, it will need a sand dune, if you get my drift. The last comparable effort, running barefoot in the sand, - failed. Many of whom were pushed out from HW to SW. So there maybe some apprehension to get involved in these new efforts.

BK and AA are competing to be RR's favorite. RR, being the idïot he is trying his best to play them both.

Both BK and AA are operators who are excellent at political manoeuvering. They are good at it.

Since HR cannot intervene and take care of business, which we know will never happen at juniper, the fiefdomdms will continue to get built.

There are various factions within juniper that don't like to agree on technical issues due to their ideologies or alliances. How f'ed up is that?

Vendors who were building merchant silicon switches are making enough of a dent in the routing market as well, which is making traditional routing vendors such as Juniper nervous, and looking at building merchant silicon routers to compete with them. ;)

Sadly, this is one decision that JD made that hurt Juniper... When he decided to keep broadocm out of the routing products... And now the field has to deal with Arista stealing customers. Hopefully not for too long.

It is irrelevant what BK was at Google. There are many at Google who believe he was fired, and since he is RR's friend, and he was brought over as Executive Vice President and CTO.

Let's be clear - both RR and BK need to be escorted out! They are responsible for derailing the juniper train and costing way too much money.

Juniper is not a 'former networking tech company' now in the business of acquiring companies to glue to together a software centric cloud automation stack. We have been reduced to that by BK and RR. RR does not want to let a new hardware product line be more successful than what he created. We should have embraced merchant silicon a long time ago. Therefore RR needs to go. BK needs to go too as he has no vision for hardware.

To be clear, BK is not even as qualified as RR was when he became CEO. So, no, the BoD has learned from the last time around. Not going to happen, despite your dumb rumor.
