Age Discrimination- very hard to prove and impossible to prevent

Age is the fastest growing form of discrimination, and there is n o t h i n g to be done about it. Very hard to prove----and impossible to prevent, at least on the pre hiring end. 'Oh, we're not allowed to ask your age on the application'. Sure. They just get the info from your s.s. # which is completely legal and necessary to obtain.

Sadly this is the truth and, even more sadly, things will stay this way for a long time. A good post by @XplooZv-rju

In today's world, we allow people to identify as whatever they want to. So announce that you identify as a 25 year old person of color, are a trans-xual, and you will have job security for another 20 years. You just have to be creative.

Yeah. I keep hearing that 20/40/100 deal. I don’t know if it’s true but I do know that it seems like they are hunting older workers.

I honestly think that they shouldn’t be allowed to have those badges that are different colors for years of service anymore. It’s like walking around with a bullseye on you.

I also think associates should not be forced to be recognized for years of service anymore. I actually don’t want people to know how long I’ve been with the company. And what’s the first thing they always ask you? “How long you been with the company?” They may not be able to ask your age, but knowing the answer to years of service is just about as good.

It is not impossible. Just keep records. We just had a associates in a court case win . She had proof with records and dates

She won money in arbitration. If you can prove it go for it.

I was at the airport flying home when I ran into an old Walmart colleague who had been let go after 25+ years of service. He worked in the Home Office. He said I was a “20/40/100” victim. Over 20 years of service, over 40 years of age, and made more than $100K. The “20/40/100” are being hunted.

Leave on your feet not on your shield.

It's not just here in the U.S., either. My woman is from the Philippine Islands; on a visit there, I saw signs reading 'If over age 25 no need to apply'. It was explained to me this was directed to females there; the implication was employers wanted young , pretty girls only for the tourist trade. Prostitution there is highly negotiable.
