I wonder why the news isn't covering the massive layoff that hit Argosy Online last week.

Argosy Online actually made money for the company. It seemed like a knee jerk reaction to take away the only profitable piece of the organization. Still makes no sense.
Nicole, sadly no one at the campuses had any idea that there would be so many more closures and so shortly after the other campuses were closed. Students do deserve answers and should demand them from DCEH and Dream Center Foundation. I am shocked there has not been media coverage, especially in Hollywood. I bet if a group of students or organized a strike and invited media outlets, they can put pressure on Dream Center Foundation to help and at the minimum, get answers. Just a suggestion. Most of us that stayed at the campus only did it for the students to try and help and protect them. Unfortunately we were laid off without so much of a day notice so we could say goodbye.
Reason is that 99 out of 100 Pittsburgh residents have never heard of Argosy University. Id bet vast majority have heard of art institute, so thats what the media would cover in the local market
tfj gross pounding students with another blow -
why does anyone do anything? - they have faith, they believe, they trust - it's life - it happens
Why don't you put your questions else where and help these students using compassion instead
if you guys want someone to write something like a student did at ai for another school, write it yourself
Dear Disinterested Prig.
Nicole's well written and heartfelt testimonial deserves attention and not your wave-of-the-hand dismissal.
Her writing ability makes it clear that she's the one who should be schooling you.
Now go back to kvetching about your W-2.
with everything going on your really going to ask them that question? you don’t think they have asked themselves that? maybe they did do research but only had a few classes left from another school and that was their best and closest option, stop judging and asking why they signed up.
Can we get an Argosy post that stays about Argosy, please? What happened at AI is devastating, but the same thing happened at AU. I saw this post and thought there might be something other than another wall of text about AI.
I mean this question sincely and am not trying to insult. I’ve been thinking a lot about the students at AI and have been wondering:
Why did you sign up for school at AI to begin with? Did you do any research? The school has been in decline for the past 5+ years; why would you sign loans for such an expensive school when it’s been on such shaky ground?
I agree, which is why I sent this letter out to multiple news outlets.
My name is Nicole L. Marinelli, I am a current student at the Art Institute of California—Hollywood. The purpose of this letter is to highlight a serious issue that has not been given enough media attention, especially in California. Just days ago, my classmates and I found out that there was a strong possibility that more AI’s campuses would be closing, including our own school, and we have been given no information regarding this news. It appears evident since the Hollywood location has let go numerous staff members. With many questions and concerns and no answers, we hope that highlighting this matter will help shed some light on what’s going on and bring some sort of justice and answers to our many unanswered questions. We want to know if we have time to graduate? and if not, will we be eligible for loan forgiveness? What happens to the students like myself who have had to pay out of pocket on a monthly basis and our just a few classes short of graduating? Will tuition be reimbursed, and what about the parents who were encouraged to take out Parent Plus loans for their children? Many of us have just transferred to the Hollywood campus from other campuses because of the closures that took place in December 2018. Many students like myself, were even encouraged to continue to attend classes at San Bernardino because we could then transfer our credits to Hollywood. If there was a potential of more closures why would my previous school, AI- San Bernardino, encourage us to transfer to AI- Hollywood. Why would DCEH give us the option of transferring to other AI campuses and attend classes at 50% off tuition. It's very difficult to believe that such a large entity did not realize they were in jeopardy. It seems to us that this is something that Dream Center Education Holdings and their partners should have been able to forecast. They must have known that all of the remaining AI’s were in jeopardy and yet they still offered it to us as an option. If this is this case, we find this to be unethical.
Someone must have known that this was a possibility and if so, they should have been transparent with us all. Some students have uprooted their entire life with their friends, family and jobs to move to Hollywood to finish their education only to be told within a month that they were closing more campuses. Had we been told that this was even a possibility when the first wave of campuses closed, we could have transferred out immediately to seek out other options instead of still attending classes. This also highlights another issue, which is that many institutions will not even take some of our coursework because it's not part of their articulation agreement. Will other education institutions be willing to amend their agreements to fit our needs?
I hope bringing attention to this matter can help bring justice to the students who don’t know where to finish their education or have to start over, and to the faculty and professors who were laid off or have to scramble looking for a job again with such short notice.
I know! I was part of that layoff with AUO in Chandler; and no one has said a word. It’s all focused on AI and South. Does anyone know anything about AUO? Students? Is anyone even enrolling?
