Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

What about students?

I'm glad I found this page. I don't work or study at anything DCEH related, but a friend of mine does. And he is panicking right now, but I can't get anything out of him. Is there any chance somebody here can tell me what happens to students when an AI is closed? Does he get his money back? Can he transfer to another AI?

We are an active community ready to organize together. As to my knowledge, Ai Pittsburgh has been hit pretty hard with the layoffs and the announcement to close. This inexcusable poor management has gone on for years, so please contact Lissa Rose to organize with her to bring justice to your school concerning Ai Pittsburgh. Contact Marta Vazquez to organize with for the AiLV.

If you are a former employee and wish to have someone to speak and pass on information, PM me and I will notify my lawyer to contact to you.

Here is proof of the recruitment tactic committed by the Art Institute from EDMC. Dream Center likely did not change how they aggressively recruited too:

Students at AiPOD please please withdraw from classes now. You can withdraw without charges or minimal charges until February 1.

Save your money. Transfer.

Try applying to Academy of Arts University or Rocky Mountain College. They are offering discounts to many majors and AiP-OD students.

Transfer to an AI that is not owned by dceh. Sorry i guess it needed clarification.

-the ones no longer owned by dceh are financially and accreditation wise perfectly ok.

At this point it would be really stupid for students to transfer to another Ai - they were told that already and look what happened -- they were told to sign leases for places to live - yah go ahead - you'll be fine they were told - and now look -- one has to have some kind of psychosis to continue to tell students to transfer to another Ai school -- really? come on - where is your morality?

All depends on where your friend is attending. If its “online” then theyll probably be able to transfer to one of the 7 ai campuses that are staying open long term and take classes online through them.

If your friends goes to a campus for classes and its for like...culinary which obviously cant be done online, your friend could transfer geographically to one of the 7 -or- most of the campuses that will close are working out agreements with other area schools that can help your friend graduate.

If your friend very recently enrolled, then he/she may just have their financial aid refunded since keeping that school open for a couple students would cost more than just refunding a few classes of tuition.

It's a crime (literally) that "Again-the students are the ones who will suffer the most, and regardless of what people like to say on this page, there are staff and faculty who care about students and care about them."

But those CARING people "regardless of what people like to say on this page" were always too few and far between. Many of those people that long ago tried to sound the alarm were often ridiculed and vilified by those CARING people who never wanted the party to end, despite the fact they knew what was going on; and if they didn't had no business in education.

So go ahead and give the students your sincerest faux crocodile tears sympathies, tell them you know how they feel, give them false hope by telling them to join this group or that; but they ain't NEVER getting their time or money back and people in the know know this because in the end, which is now, it does take a village of complicit and non complicit drones to make a scam like EDMC/DCEH effect the long con so well and for so long.

The corrupt suits are experts in human corruptibility and have mined every last penny from the scam all for them. But now the suits look at you and say "who are you to judge me."

And yes, because it's the students who are at the bottom of the food chain "Again" it will be them left holding the mere bag of shells.

Word of advice: Leave it off the Resume/CV.

Veterans and their families that are students should contact their benefits center immediately. This is from the Nevada VA:

Art Institute of Las Vegas

The Commission has received notice from Dream Center Education Holdings of the intended closure of the Art Institute of Las Vegas by March 31, 2019. This will permit student to complete the current semester prior to the closure. DCEH has indicated that the campus will hold student meetings concerning the closure and will hold transfer fairs. Students in attendance at the time of closure who are unable to transfer to another institution may be eligible for indemnification if the student experienced out of pocket expenses for tuition and fees.

Please ask your friend to join the I Am Ai Facebook group.

If DCEH were an honorable and honest organization they would have notified students if the closings when they made the decision. Some students found out about the closings from outside sources that had been notified by DCEH that they were closing schools. DCEH still accepted the students money and school kept telling students they would remain open, apply for next session, pay your tuition in advance.

There has been nothing of benefit to a student since January 2018 when DCEH took over operations.

They are a subsidiary of Dream Center Foundation.

First-I am sorry for your friend, this is a mess that students didn’t deserve. Which Ai school does he attend? It will really depend on which school however he may want to start looking at other local options to see what he can transfer. Again-the students are the ones who will suffer the most, and regardless of what people like to say on this page, there are staff and faculty who care about students and are worried about them.
