Honestly, it's like the goal is to leave all the dead weight and cut anybody who actually has any knowledge and contributes to the company. Each time when we have more cuts, I'm left in disbelief when I see who is gone.

its all about how much of a manager's pet you are...if your manage likes you, you are safe no matter what, if not then you are a sitting duck.
I wish some of these inept managers to leave
Majority of directors and veep should be laidoff. People managers deal with real headaches.
Directors with no direct reports drive me crazy. We have plenty of them directing political drama as they have nothing lese to direct.
Many of them get promoted because they play dirty politics well. They manage up, keep their boss satisfied, boss's boss happy and deflect blame to others.
Voila, layoffs don't affect them.
from time to time, I see layoff is necessary, especially this time, few less productive people were let go. I wish some of these inept managers to leave. They are the problem but not the lowest rank employees.
Why did that guy send a mail almost identical as the one he sent last January? It just make him look more stupid and hypocritical.
Decision of specifically who is impacted is done at the Manager to Sr.Director level.
"Upper" Management decides percentages across BUs, GMs decide percentages across products and so on...
People are just lines in a excel sheet for the upper management... If you think they care about people, you are lieing to your self. All they care is the bottom line, because that mean their job is safe...and they get payd a lot more than any regular grunt.
