Ignore this "while thread"?
Wtf are you even talking about?
You sound whiny.
All I see on this board is wiser people suggesting looking for better jobs now rather than waiting to be laid off as it is harder to find work when you're desperate and laid off.... Companies usually pass on unemployed, laid off employees, as they worry they are desperate and will take any job and look for another and Ieave, so they scout out people who already have employment. There is also suggestion to get out of debt ASAP, as if you get laid off, you don't want to be in huge credit card, car, student loan or mortgage debt. Obviously not everyone can pay off all their debt, but people can certainly refrain from buying anything now and no big ticket purchases.
Be proactive about what's going to happen in the very near future.
You've been warned. Don't cry when you realize you've been spending beyond your means and living like there is no chance of layoffs on the very close horizon.
The only reason a layoff is catastrophic to most people is because of their debt and no savings at all.
Everyone should have a savings to cover one year's expenses.
