Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

The Best Things About Staples

  1. A future of success.

  2. The company is actively right sized for profitability and sustainability.

  3. Real plans, real goals and real talent.

I realize some may be affected by changes and are not happy about those changes or because of legacy. I would say the past is over, the current is the right plan for this time, and the future is bright.

Maybe an English class or even a proper writing class might be in order- ya think? It’s amazing to see the caliber of people that are allowed to keep working for a once great company! This just reaffirmes my decision to leave and find a career. So scary to see what the future holds.

People today is bright day for the whole group,Essendant and Staples as we move forward to a line our distribution efforts .This merger is going to make the group leaders in a business thats good for the taken .

The only concern is how many will lose their jobs ?

What will happen to salaries ,vacation time etc.

Stay positive ,work hard and hope for the best.

follow the $$, ask yourself, does SP takeover if Staples doesn't run a fool's errand to try and buy office depot?

Never thought this post would get a negative response. I'm not trolling, not HR and simply trying to inspire.

We are turning a corner.

We are hitting the gas.

We are going to fly to success.

If you don't believe it. Don't be in it. Seriously.

thanks for the late advice but I already left several years ago,.

I like watching the ship sink, though.

What a bunch of negative losers on this thread. If you are still with the company posting these remarks you might as well just consider leaving now. Take a hard look at yourself and find a place where you are not held accountable and can s--- the life out of that company. The days of no accountability are over. Yes, likely a decade late but the rebuild is now. Find a recruiter who thrives of finding losers like you jobs working for a company who accepts mediocrity.

Agree agree agree . RS , the former CEO of Staples when it was a public company used to say ...

“ The plan is working “ .

Not sure what “ the plan “ was supposed to do , but I will guess at a few things :

He made a lot of money wrecking the place .

Most everyone else did not.

“ The plan is working .”

1) A future of success.

Truth - a future of continued fail and sale.

2) The company is actively right sized for profitability and sustainability.

Truth- we have all seen this story before. "right size" = continued terminations just like with corporate express.

Real plans, real goals and real talent.

Truth - The "real plans" are to continue to show folks the door.

The "goals" are to prepare the sale of the company as soon as a buyer is found.

The "real talent" is already gone. If any "talent" is remaining, they are surely looking to get

out!

Staples let go of their most experienced and successful FS managers and reps, how does that make Staples better?

Same post could have been posted numerous times over the last 8 years after every other round of layoffs.... and most of the people that would have posted it are now gone. You aren’t convincing anyone of anything— do yourself the best favor you could ever do— stop being delusional and a follower. March to your own beat- be a leader- open your eyes to the future and find yourself a career, not just a job as you ride this ship underwater.

Not entirely delusional, but it will be "success" for much fewer people. And success will only mean that the company has been successfully sold to another PE firm who would will continue to harvest it for parts and break it into ever smaller pieces.

I know this is a troll but all I have to say is that anyone with any amount of business sense knows that the majority of moves Staples has made in the past several years show failure at every turn.

Can you say tool? Also, what the devil does the Corporate Express acquisition have to do with today’s predicament? If anything those folks bought integrity and decency to the cluster known as Staples.

Who really believes this? Staples isn’t poised to compete anymore. Margins aren’t there, too many workers, too many managers and leadership changes. We’ve been on this ship for a while. It was a good ride while it lasted. Wish they never bought corporate express
