Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

The bigger they are, the harder they fall

And let me tell you, may overpaid under qualified fell yesterday. Fell so much that they will have a hard time getting back up once they self reflect and realize they are not as important, or as good as they portray themselves.

I worked there for over 10 years, I started in a student facing position (not admissions). For the last 8 years, I survived at least 4 mass layoffs per year. I worked my way into CS 5 years ago and as more and more people got laid off, I had to take on the responsibilities that were outside of my job title and pay range. I lost my 401k match over 5 years ago and haven't had a pay raise since. I was laid off on Tuesday without official notice from HR and no severance pay. You may think I am an id--t, you may think I am part of the problem. I do not. I have never lied or cheated a student. I took pride in the success of the students I worked with because of so. I was able to obtain a masters degree that I would not be able to afford if I didn't work at EDMC. I worked my way into IT and continued my education on a daily basis because of the team and leadership I worked with. From day ONE working there, I made friendships that will last me a lifetime. I witnessed beautiful moments like introducing co-workers to one another - them falling in love and getting married, getting invitated to co-workers family celebrations like childrens' birthday parties and christenings. I made bonds with the most hard working, most respectful human beings I have ever met and they became a family, which was really special because my own family lives far away. My main objective in life has always been to improve others lives. I don't regret a day I worked for EDMC. Dream Center gave us hope. I thought my salary would be 'right-sized' for all the work I was doing and my 401k match would come back within a year. I was told we would have new programs to offer and better marketing and tuition rates. That was a lie told to me. And I wanted to believe in it. The dream became a nightmare. And I am least concerned about what will happen to me. I was FAR underpaid and very overworked. My biggest concern are the current enrolled students and how they will be serviced. Their time and efforts could all be for not. At least we got paid to be there, as little as it was. Grow up. Be a human. Be kind. I may be unemployed, but I have integrity, I will be ok. Good luck to you.

While your gloating is unseemly, anyone posting here could have seen this collapse coming for months and planned. My sympathies remain with the students who either will have no degree or be burdened with massive loans NOT discharged, and the faculty and staff who truly were blindsided and laid off without warning in the last three plus years under both EDMC and DCEH

Your a jerk! I was probably one of the lowest paid, yet more dedicated employees and I was kept go. No thought was put into who and why, the doors are shutting....everryone will be gone!!! During this time, no one needs such a bashing. Go troll elsewhere!

Actually confirmed with sources, the ones they kept had lowest skill set, so when they are offered positions with “studio” at 13.50 an hour it won’t be much of a fight

You’re projecting your own insignificance and insecurities on others. Seek counseling now while you can before hurt yourself or others.
