I knew 3 really good employees that got laid off last year. Each of them landed similar jobs at same pay level (they are all VPs) 2 moved out of state and love their new locations. I'm not even getting any bites on my resume for any out of state jobs. I'm looking nationwide and I'm getting nothing. I want to move anywhere I can get a steady job, I'm not being picky. What gives? Anyone else having no luck with out of state searches?

When two people start to meet up every day for coffee, lunch or after work drinks, it gets noticed.
Usually one of the two is more pushy about the lunch meetings an in my experience, it's the women over 40 swinging by a guys office to see if he wants to grab a coffee or lunch. I sit in the middle of it all and see/hear everything and it's usually the women starting this type of stuff. Most men seem to be surprised at the female attention and fall hook, line and sinker and then either mess things up at home or mess things up at work, or sometimes both.
No faster way to erase your net worth than to have an affair with that woman who gives you a little too much attention in the office. The judge will give the ex wife more than half of everything you've worked for and alimony payments and that woman you had the affair with will drop you like a hot potato when she realizes the ex wife got 100% of the house, half your 401k, and more than half of everything else you own(ed). Then your employer will lay you off and you will have no woman. Ever.
Save yourself the aggravation, she ain't worth it.
You're welcome.
Women at STT have no taste when it comes to clothing.
I will never understand how wearing yoga pants to work is fashionable.
Of course they get rid of cheaters....these are the people that can't even be honest with their spouses, you expect honesty in their work? Then what happens when things get messy in the office and one of them wants to end the affair? Never ends well and could end up costing the company money if someone tries to sue it go to HR with false or true claims. Yeah, no doubts they get rid of those types if they catch them, via emails and such. People are so stupid, they say things on emails and use office space inappropriately, they deserve to be let go.
I'm betting a few people have been let go after it was found out they were cheaters. It's always so obvious, I agree.
The funny thing about your coworkers having affairs is they think no one notices what's going on, lol. It's actually so friggin obvious when people are having relationships they shouldn't be and it's talked about behind their backs.
In 20 years I've seen a lot of this and it's sad. If your so unhappy in your marriages, get a divorce first and then play away. I always feel bad for the spouse who has no idea what's going on when her husband is working until 9pm every night to make those 'deadlines'.
Hey ladies, if he cheats with you, he'll also cheat on you!!!!!
I think getting laid off in a big group is worse than a few here and there.
I have many stories about State Street women throwing themselves at men in the office. I had this one lady ask me out 3 times to meet up after work to talk about work, it was like s-xual harrassment. I finally had my beautiful wife and two kids stop by one day for lunch in the city. She got the hint, especially since my wife is a knockout and and I would not trade her for anyone, and she was lucky I didn't complain to HR as we we're in separate groups and had no need to meet outside of work, that's what conference rooms are for between 9-5. Apparently I found out she made it a habit of asking men, especially married men, out for after work drinks. Rumor was she had at least two affairs with older married guys and one guy got laid off while they were messing around.
State Street women are rather unethical in their office morals. I guess that's how they climb the corporate ladder.
Meh. I know of 5 people who got laid off 4 found jobs but they are all still looking for better job. One had a baby.
The ones that had to relocate are in sh--ty places that I would never move to, like Baltimore, Philadelphia and Chicago. Too much crime in this areas.
I agree with you a hundred percent. I was let go last year, though it was a bit to get use to now I have a new job way out of the city and very happy with it, a new environment, new people, and fresh start with the same amount of money.
Even more so, I have not seen one bit of immoral CYA practices here, or unethical behavior as I have seen in an AIG office such as NY and Boston. I have seen the loose secretary's, especially from Boston in NY flirt and have relations in the offices, such as Cinnamon and her affairs, which was common knowledge then. I can only imagine how it is now... .Good luck and I hope you get that new opportunity.
Well if we're going way back, Eisenhower warned y'all about the military industrial complex and here we are...
Constant state of war/rumors of war = money and defense spending
Bubba Clinton sold it and he created the housing bubble you need to go back that far
USA was sold off to China during the last administration.
Get ready for your new socialist regime.... and a land where everyone makes the same wage, no matter who you were or are...except for your globalist over lords.
You wanted globalism...
It's here...
They don't want to hear about debt. They all have mortgages, student loans, car loans, credit card debt, furniture debt, day care bills and they don't want to hear about debt, lol.
America is doomed. You people can't even get landscaping jobs cuz your borders are wide open with illegals coming in every day stealing all your gardening jobs, lol
This is what is going down. http://www.usdebtclock.org/world-debt-clock.html
We're in uncharted waters.

Problem with out of state searches is they need a reason to hire out of state and you have to be unique or really good at what you do because companies don't want to pay relocation expenses if they can hire someone that doesn't need to relocate. I'd say if you were an SVP or higher up your search may go better as there are fewer people at that level competing for jobs.
Texas is doing well, lots of financial places are hiring there and houses are dirt cheap.
I've given up looking in MA, I'm also looking out of state at a VP level job. Search has not been encouraging to say the least and I can't find anything in Boston without taking a significant pay cut for a less senior role. I honestly have never been in this situation, I always find work and rarely never get a call back on a job I apply for I thought it was just me going through this and being 46 and getting near 50.
Go to Denver
The people I know that got laid off are doing so much better and the ones who moved away from Massachusetts said cost of living is so worth it to leave Massachusetts. The real plus is they got a salary almost the same as State Street but houses are cheaper. They said they can actually see themselves retiring since cost of living is better.
I am in same situation, I apply everywhere and get no calls. I thought it was just quiet over holidays, but I've been looking since last September. You would think it would be busy for hiring now that we are well past mid January.
The problem with going to another state is their is no guarantee your job might be outsourced at the new company.
As you see a lot of companies are outsouring jobs or brining in H1-B visa workers.
Google, Facebook and other companies have a staff made up of at least 40% H1-B workers
Timing is everything.
