Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

What a sham that EDMC and DCEH can file for bankruptcy, but their students can't file for bankruptcy on debt from EDMC/DCEH schools.

So we are in agreement that ai degree especially those from non-regional arent worth as much.

An au or su degree then, from regional accreditation has value, maybe not high level name recognition but the requirements to graduate and whats in each class would be fine.

a degree from Pitt [traditional university] or a degree [from] AI means the same thing

No they do not mean the same thing. There is a hierarchy in education.

Most Ais will not accept credits from another Ai. Ais were created randomly and each administration was allowed to apply for the accreditation of their choice or ability. All AUs are the same, it’s one school with one accreditation. Ais with SACS or MSCHE we’re held accountable to national standards. ACICS Ais had more flexibility and did as little as necessary to keep their accreditation. Regional accreditation at an Ai was respected by other colleges, ACICS was not.

Admissions and administrators sold Ai as equal to other colleges, people who graduated from Ai want to believe their degree is equal to other colleges, but it is not.

A degree is a ticket to get in the door, how you perform once you’re in that door depends on your work ethic and skill set you develop. Unless you go to an Ivy League school, a degree from Pitt or a degree AI means the same thing. The ones who were there for the right reasons and put the work in are doing what they want they want. The ones who thought they were going to design video games by signing an application, and collecting a check are not. They only start complaining about the debt when the stipend checks stop coming...cmon now , you should be happy today there’s more snow flakes outside for you to play with

vtt Can’t be serious. EDMC & DCEH “sell” a useless degree for premium profit to a customer/student who is now in debt for tuition, expenses plus interest. EDMC & DCEH walk away with a slap in the wrist and the student is left in debt with a blotch on their credit record and payments until retirement, while working as a barista instead of in the field for which they studied because the degree is useless and from a defunct school.

I dont even know where to start with how distorted that viewpoint is.

You clearly dont work for any of these companies, and never have.

Please find somewhere else to stand on your soapbox
