If your pay is low they will probably keep you. But gone are the days of raises and fat promotions. Nowadays when they promote, the person gets next to nothing in a salary and bonus raise, but they get a fancy new title. The ol bait and switch...
They are promoting women, who make less anyway. But we all know women burn out quicker, especially when they have kids.
