Thread regarding CA Technologies (CA Inc.) layoffs

How is job hunting going?

In case people who were laid off still check this forum, would you mind sharing with us how is the job search going?

One of my former coworkers is complaining that the situation is bleak and anything he gets offered is significantly lower in pay than he made here.

Is this the case for most people?

I had a stay offer, which meant that there was no incentive for me to actually (in contrast to the transition people who get a good redundency package in Europe and a bonus). I just got an offer for a better job, with better salary than what I got at CA/Broadcom.

Sure, on paper the RSU grant looks nice, but in reality, given the current state, how likely is it you would last 5 or more years in the company?

In EMEA (middle/west Europe) is economy in decent shape, so it was relatively easy to find a new job. Salary is pretty much same as with CA (I wasn't manager though), on the other hand the benefits are worse now (at least for newcomers, it should get better over time) but I have more flexible home office possibility, so I would say it's +/- the same. But I joined much bigger company, so the risk that somebody will buy us is close to zero which is plus ;-)

It is known that most people lie about salaries, so pretty sure most people are getting less money in their new jobs

I was in the Islandia office, I also received a 20% increase in pay. The health care benefits are better but do cost more per month.

In the NY area most people I knew who were let go have new jobs - including myself :), and usually at a significant pay bump (though, admittedly, the benefits aren't usually as good as what CA offered I found).

I’m still employed by Broadcom but everyone I worked closely with is now officially employed. And they’re all making as much or up to 20% more than they were being paid. Apparently, CA paid for sh--
